UPDATE 4
SHAH ALAM, July 17 — Despite their demands, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders today failed to get any answers about the death of Teoh Beng Hock from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers at their Selangor headquarters at Plaza Masalam here.
PR top guns Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng had gone to MACC office on the 14th floor where Teoh may have either fallen or jumped to his death early yesterday morning.
Sources said MACC officials remained tight-lipped, saying they were under instructions not to say anything. Kit Siang called the meeting a waste of time.
Outside, however, an angry crowd shouting "Siasat, Siasat" drove home the point that the conduct of the MACC and the death of the 30-year-old political aide to DAP’s Ean Yong Hian Wah was simply unacceptable.
Teoh was taken in for questioning by the MACC on Wednesday evening. The agency said he was freed a little after 3.45am but his body was later found sprawled on the roof of a five-storey building next door at 1.30pm yesterday
Despite police roadblocks, several hundred protesters including a dozen PR MPs and state assemblymen managed to gather outside the building.
Repeated police warnings failed to deter the crowd which clashed with police dressed in riot gear several times.
At least two people were injured during the fracas, including an assistant to state executive councillor Elizabeth Wong, when the crowd went head to head with police for several minutes.
Wong was seen arguing with the authorities while at least two other protesters were seen being dragged away roughly right in front of reporters and photographers.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Nor Azam Jamaluddin was seen twice appealing to PR leaders to ask the crowd to disperse but to no avail as the crowd continued to jeer.
The protesters later staged a sit-in at the entrance of the building, waiting for PR leaders to come out.
Police were seen preparing to move in against the group which included elected representatives Tony Pua, Fong Kui Loon, Teo Nie Ching, Tan Kok Wai and Elizabeth Wong while reporters were instructed to leave the area.
However, the arrival of Selangor Police Chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar stopped the tense situation from becoming worse. Khalid asked the MPs, state lawmakers and other protesters just to move to the side and not block the entrance of the building and they immediately complied.
At least seven protesters were arrested in the melee. They included Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam and Selangor exco member Dr Xavier Jayakumar. All seven were released by 6pm.
Anwar and Kit Siang have called for the setting up a royal commission to investigate Teoh’s death.
Later at a press conference, Khalid said his administration would not allow its officials to be investigated outside their offices.
“We will prepare a legal team to assist our officials under investigation.”
He said the state government would assist and support family members of Teoh, including helping in the funeral arrangements.
“I have directed the deputy state secretary to meet with family members.”
He also called for a royal commission of enquiry to clear the MACC’s image.
"The MACC's image has been tarnished. People want to what happened,” he said.

So, now we have 1) Kugan for police and 2) Teoh for MACC. Harp on these two issues until they lock horn with each other. Then, I call it democratic.
written by SERIOUSLY!, July 17, 2009
Why must the MACC conduct its investigation until the wee hours? Is this case so serious that it is a threat to national security? Can't they just conduct their investigation during normal office hours? Or is this a deliberate way to intimidate the opposition?
MACC may think what they are doing is right but the majority of Malaysian knows that it is just a lackey of UMNO. Thus far, they have failed miserably to convince Malaysians that they are independent. Just look at the way they are pretending to be deaf over the issues of Toyo's Bali Palace, KJ and Ali.

I'm unhappy about what's happening, I'm angry, I'm sick... I think many Malaysians feel the same too. What can we do? Never in the history of Malaysia, or the World where politicians are arrested so frequently. Never in history of Malaysia where an anti-corruption agency has the power higher than that of a police that is able to hold an interrogation for about 10 hours.
We can only pray, and pray damn hard that someone is punished for it because something MUST have happened.

- upon death, the arteries will stop pumping; and
- usually after about 8 to 10 minutes, the blood in the body would have clotted and will not flow; and
- if he was alive and fell many floors, there would be body rupture with at least an open skull fracture if he fell on the head, or severe facial fractures if he landed face down, or very large compound fractures of leg bone if he fell on his feet, and all of them will have caused a lot of haemorrhaging of blood. If his heart was not beating (and he had been dead at least 8 to 10 minutes) unclotted blood will not flow.
Thus clear, credible preservation of photos of the scene will be vital.
Further, after the Kugan water-in-the-lungs issue, I would urge that urgent independent post mortem be done with cross check of blood samples, if any, found at the scene to ensure it was from the young man.
The public is in daily jeopardy with robberies, bag snatching, housebreaking, rapes, road rage beatings etc, described as "rampant" by the IGP, without having to be subject to the perception of another dimension - deadly jeopardy whilst in authority custody. It is now not enough to investigate only this instance. Any Royal Commission should be empowered with the authority to fully investigate:
(i) authority interrogation methods,
(ii) the rules on the preservation of personal security and protection from physical and psychological harm (either inflicted on them or self inflicted as a result of unbearable interrogation methods that could lead to the taking of ones life) of interrogated personnel whilst in custody,
(iii) the legality thereof and
(iv) make recommendations in accordance with the norms of a civilised society, which must then be fully implemented.
President Obama has outlawed illegal interrogation methods and if similar acts are being carried out here, then are the Malaysian general public not entitled to protection from the same just as Americans are?
I agree with Khairy there should be an independent Royal Commission and one comprised of personages of undoubted integrity. The public needs to be able to take comfort that we are safe when called in by the authorities. If one has done wrong, then that person must face the law, after evidence is secured fairly, in a court that is seen to be fair. I fear that the recent deaths in custody may undermine this very institution that is there to protect us (and which is staffed by and large by good officers), and without that "safety net" for the ordinary folk, our country would be a dangerous place to live in.

I'm not saying it's their duty to prevent others from injuring themselves. That was not what they're suppose to do. But given that Teoh was grilled inhumanely for more than 10 hours, his death raises more questions than answers. Unless the truth prevails, I don't think any right thinking Malaysian will agree with a dumb ass minister that Teoh committed suicide.
Speaking of which, I strongly think that the dumb ass cock talker MUST apologise to Teoh's family for his insensitive remarks.

i juz have this doubts about the theory that he was scared, hold on by his pants out the window and then accidentally fell down when his pants ripped off. these are my thoughts:
1) if i want the hold him down like that, I would hold him by his belt......it is easier........by this way his pant should not be torn.
2) if he is not wearing belt and the killer hold him at the back of his pant then his pant should be torn at the zip area and not at his back
3) lastly, if the killer hold him at the back of his pant, then pant fabric should be torn along the direction of the force which is this case pependicular to the existing one.

This is tragic. All Malaysians need to get to the bottom of this case, that is, who is responsible for his death?
If he was pushed, then it is murder. Who was responsible then? Is is a cover up? A Malaysian is not that cheap. Is is for this reason that those responsible must be brought to justice.
If he jumped himself, then the party that he worked for is guilty as charged. It just required a lot of courage for anyone to jumped to his death.
Do not be emotional and be side-tracked from the main issue. The main thrust is anti-corruption. Malaysia need to flush out all those involved. All of them. Big or small. MACC is to continue on with its main mission.
Why MACC got the blamed? The only reason was because those responsible are playing with people sentiments and trying to get away with their almost proven corruption. Do not let anyone run away for this serious matter in which every Malaysian has a stake in getting MACC to clean up any corruption. This is a matter for all Malaysian.
I have a deep sympathy for the deceased family. As my Mom said, it is not easy to raised a child up to thirty years. This is a tragic lost to Malaysia. Those in the corruption loop are responsible. It is not a question of big or small corruption here. All those responsible must be probed into and be brought to justice starting from now. It is only then that Malaysia will reach a matured democratic system.

This is too much. Way too much. I (http://khairul-today.blogspot.com) do not know whether this MACC interrogators simply do not have got brain or they really desperate to show other people that inside their head is actually empty, really empty without the physical complete structure of a human brain.
How do you know that in each every people's head there is a human being anatomy which all of us called brain? Yes, B-R-A-I-N? For anything that is hidden or cannot be seen, the possibility is it maybe exist and it maybe not.
So I guess these so-called MACC investigators surely so hard-up and desperate to show to the other Malaysian citizens that indeed there is no brain inside their head. For if they have, surely they will not act worse than Nazi interrogators grilling this poor young man from 5pm on Wednesday till 3.45am on Thursday morning.
Whether there is a provision under the law that a witness (not a suspect) to be grilled or interrogated for such a long period is another issue which I do not have the appetite to talk about it now.
BUT my question to MACC interrogators are:
Are you going to do the same by interrogating mercilessly if that young man was Khairy Jamaluddin whom even UMNO Disciplinary Board has found him guilty of money politics?
Why have you not interrogated Ali Rustam with the same degree of intensity that this 'witness' Teoh has to endure (let alone nearly 12 long hours like this brainless MACC oofficers did to the late Teoh Beng Hock), again whom UMNO Disciplinary Board has found him guilty of money politics?
To all MACC interrogators let me remind you that your salary that you feed your children at home all this while are paid by using Malaysian taxpayers' money; this include the Late's Teoh tax money!! So why on earth your actions show that you have behaved like a political slave to your political masters in UMNO?
My heart goes out with the Late Teoh's family and his fiancee. I cannot imagine if this had happened to me. But I am positively sure my young small son and daughters will not rest even for a second until and unless my death is vindicated through whatever legal means necessary.
Nobody really understand why today in my office I cried silently but my tears visibly flowed from my eyes after seeing the photo which shows the Late Teoh's body sprawled in a pool of blood on the roof of the building with a forensic police checking his body and upon reading the background story of his death.
Yes, indeed I (http://khairul-today.blogspot.com) as a Muslim, cannot accept seeing my other fellow Malaysian brother and human-being died like that. It is simply too much for me. To the late Teoh's family and fiancee, you are not alone. I silently cry with you too. Really.

Muhyidin berkata, biar polis siasat. Deputy IGP kata, jangan speculate.

Selective investigations, late night interogations, secretive and delayed procedures, and investigating personell that claim everything was "standard procedure". The picture warrants an indept independent investigation. And in this incident from authorities that are not associated with the police or the MACC.
Malaysians are tired of waking up to hear of sudden deaths in police custody. The public is not convinced that young men and women who are hauled up for investigation die natural deaths in these enviroments.
Many of these so-called "investigations" and questionings were done without permitting lawyers of those questioned to be present.
