KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin wants the government to set up a royal commission to probe the death of Teoh Beng Hock, saying it's the best way to clear the name of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Teoh, a political secretary to Sri Kembangan DAP state assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, fell to his death yesterday at the MACC's office in Shah Alam.
He was there two days ago to facilitate investigations into the alleged misuse of public funds by Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen.
"Because of the context of which the incident took place, I urge the government to set up a royal commission to probe the death of Teoh," said Khairy in his latest blog post.
"This objective is also important to cleanse off any ill-thoughts towards the MACC, hence protecting the reputation of the institution," he added.
Khairy, who is also the MP for Rembau, said Teoh's death was a shock and expressed condolences to the family and those close to the deceased.
Regardless of Teoh's political affiliation, the Umno Youth chief said his death should not be politicised.
"A tragedy has occurred and a life was lost in this incident and that is how we should perceive it," said Khairy.
Opposition leaders, of course, do not share the Rembau MP's views, putting the blame for Teoh's death squarely on the MACC. Some have even claimed foul play behind the incident.
Selangor police, however, yesterday said investigations have so far showed no signs of foul play.
Khairy urged people not to worsen the situation by speculating and pointing fingers.

Enough of all your sandiwara KJ!
If the same "accident" happened to any of your UMNO members, will you take your own advice ?
written by sweetnoob, July 17, 2009
First, your priority is wrong. Most importantly, the objective is to find out how Teoh managed to fall to his death. People are outraged and very angry. Period!!!
There is no need to protect the reputation of the MACC because it has no reputation aside from being a lackey of BN and therefore, all resources should be put into the "murder" of Teoh.
Your opinion Khairy is one that stinks of self preservation of an entity that in the eyes of the rakyat is evil and corrupt to the core.
So, you can try to come out smelling like a rose and hero but sadly, you made yourself look foolish and insincere but most importantly, without any sense of sympathy and humility.
God Rest Your Soul Teoh

To me, circumstantial evidences point to MACC as being responsible for Teoh's death, whether directly or indirectly.

Is there any reputation left to be protected?
It should simply be disbanded.

They're a waste of taxpayers' money and at the end of the day, nothing comes out of it! It'll be filed as NFA ( No Further Action) by the current regime. Case in point: Lingamgate scandal, PKFZ....etc
I suggest that the current MACC be put to pasture (the sooner the better!) and a new truly independent Agency be formed, manned by true professionals and not beholden to the powers that be.

Hard to believe the things you said. The fact you tried to make it a Royal commission is already politicising an opposition member’s death. MACC hands are tainted even before Teoh's death. You can orchestrate a Royal commission but what guarantee do we have of its independence?
The issue at hand in Malaysia is it total lack of credibility caused by institutionalised corruption. You can talk till the cows come home. It still can’t convince the electorate about the many cases that are pending and that has dragged on for years. We can start with the Mongolian case, PKFZ massive losses, Anwar’s faked sodomy trial and on and on. Unbelievable!

It was politics that led to his tragic death!
The MACC has to be held accountable at all cost because his death occured at their premise and the individuals responsible must be brought to justice (and it'll be a cold day in hell if that happens).

I would suggest you read my blog entry carefully before launching into your diatribe. The first, and most important, objective of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI)) would be to find out what resulted in Teoh Beng Hock's tragic death. I also suggested that the RCI is the best way forward to ensure a comprehensive investigation would be carried out based on impartiality and objectivity.
I further said that this objectivity was important to ensure that any negative aspersions against MACC can be avoided, especially if they are eventually exonerated from being involved in Teoh's death. In other words, the more independent, credible and impartial the investigation, the better it is for MACC if they have done nothing wrong. If the investigation is not going to be transparent and MACC are found not to be involved, you and I know what the consequences would be.
So, please read the primary source carefully (www.rembau.net) before responding with such gusto. It makes you appear hasty and biased.
Needless to say, part of the problem here is the Malaysian Insider's translation of my blog. This is not the first time the writer of the above article has made basic journalistic errors. He was the one responsible for articles resulting in his previous employer - another online news portal - openly apologizing to me. In this case, the translation of my blog entry (presumably the work of the said writer), leaves much to be desired leading readers like sweetnoob to make confused comments.
Thanks,
Khairy Jamaluddin

An innocent youth has been sacrificed because of some myopic servants out to protect the agendas of the few.( and be it known the agendas werent the original MACC objectives set up for Malaysians ) his death was in vain.
My plea to you all politicians-
you want to get rich-go rape the country's coffers
you want to taste the opiate of power- use your intelligence , not brute force and arms
BUT please do not KILL in your chase for power and wealth!
By using the instruments of state to scare , intimidate and now KILL- you guys are slowly inching your way to the edge of the political cliff
It could be an innocent life of someone on the other end of the political spectrum and ideology today, but a Life no doubt!
You guys get all the trappings and comfort of state facilities, abuse it and enrich yourselves, but was it necessary to kill to preserve it?
In all your grand mansions and wood carved whatevers, how much blood have to be spilled?
WOuld you come forward to break BN ranks with your fellow Youths to demand and show solidarity with all Malaysians that we want justice. Do you have the political will? does anyone of you have any shred of conscience left besides sacrificing it nay, prostituting it for self preservation and self enrichment?

Be fair lah MACC...why just interrogate all pakatan members ? MACC is cleary seen to be 1 sided & UMNO/BN's vehicle, thus its not to blame the public for having bad impression on MACC.

I thought better have the original than translation...
Well, like it is said so often - lost in translation.
May I have permission to go off tangent here -
That is why Tun Dr Mahathir is talking about -
If Malaysians can read the scientific discoveries - and mostly published in English -
why read translation copies in BM.
This is one case of lost in translation - at least I think that is what Khairy wants us to believe.

Teoh Beng Hock
---
Khairy wants royal probe to find out what happened to Teoh in the custody of MACC...apa yang sebenarnya berlaku kepada mendiang Teoh...
The probe is also to remove any ill or suspicious feeling towards MACC, and so to safeguard the reputation or image of MACC...
Don't point fingers at MACC nor speculate. This is not about politics but a loss of a human life -
---
But someone asked Khairy what he thinks about holding up a person under custody, under interrogation from 5 pm to 3.45 am - is that right or not. KJ has not answered yet.
Why no CCTV in high security govt offices or building like MACC - KJ, any answer from you?
Why his trousers ripped apart - that is very unusual, don't you think? KJ, any answer from you???
Sure, set up royal probe and let them investigate -
You talk only in your blog -
Can we see you tell that to the PM and insists that a royal commission be set up with power to investigate and to walk around the MACC premise, to cordon the area in 14th floor and get CSI guys to comb the whole area for evidence...????
Or is your blog is for show but no results?
We see you write about two Muslim reporters disguised themselves and entered a church and partake Christian rituals and take pictures - you were upset - and then NOTHING - just for show.
If you are sincere, you should make police report and get these two fellas arrested. But you didn't...if others disguise themselves and did the same in a mosque, what will you do???
You will tell the sultan to banish the person from the state...you have done that before. Right????
Anyway, thank you for your blog.
I just want to see more from you - more actions than words lah.
Hope you understand...

This is a malice in the mentality rooted in most side-watchers. Walk the talk? Well it's easy when other has to walk, while you talk all the way.
To think that BN politicians and their supporters are condoning such act is sickening. If there are those few, then don't generalize all of them.
A mature person would hold back his prejudice or his judgement until when everything is made clear.
Some people really subconsciously don't want the truth to such tragedies. What they really want is to find out their foe(BN, MACC, Judiciary) associated with the crime. Otherwise they will be disappointed. Because these people don't possess a 'healthy mind'.
Sorry.

I don't trust anything and anybody from BN! I hope all the foreign embassies and high commissions in Malaysia read about what is happening in Malaysia and relay back to their own countries so that they whole world will know how corrupted the BN is.

Hello KJ..it appears that you seem pretty sure that MACC is clean and thats the main reason for the setting up of the Royal Commission. Do you still believe that MACC has a reputation when Khir Toyo is yet to be investigated after so many reports published in the local dailies.

What if the RCI finds some dirt in MACC? What do you think anyone, especially the incumbent government, would do? You can't blame us for being furious at anyone from the BN making any statement, kind or unkind. We just don't see any sincerity from you people. At the end of the day, this episode of "mishap" would just be another forgotten story. I don't think we can expect any action from the government. After all, MACC was doing a favor to BN by investigating Teoh. And they did not investigate you! Do you really want to bite them now? See the irony of this case?

1. to Frahim, I think you are right - KJ does not know anything more than you and me.
2. to Gronks, you are correct - KJ is not a cop. He wasn't at the scene - how do you know??? Tanya uncle jual tau foo fah - ehh, siapa dia??? Why Teoh's trousers were torn - ripped apart - ahhh, I expect KJ to ask that question - but he is not asking??? All intelligent people should have spotted that in the picture - KJ is intelligent, right??? The tear in the trousers is unusual - don't you think???
3. to germank - you are right, KJ is not a minister. How would he know why there wasnt CCTV? Aiyahh, KJ does not have to be a minister to want to find out why no CCTV in MACC building. He should be asking question why no CCTV.
KJ proposed RCI be set up to investigate - to probe for the truth.
That one I support.
KJ - the first one to propose RCI be set up -
That one I am not sure - I do know Anwar Ibrahim has proposed that idea.
TS Dr Koh Tsu Koon also propose for RCI to probe.
MB of Selangor has done likewise.
But RCI must be empowered to prosecute,
Otherwise, a white paper is powerless.
Remember VK LImgam's tapes and the verdict by RCI - No actions lah.
But it is still start - let the RCI be set up.

It's still not too late.
