SHAH ALAM, July 17 — A Kajang municipal councillor who was also interrogated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) alleged commission investigators hurled racist remarks at him during questioning at the state MACC headquarters here.
"They called me a stupid Chinese... Are you from China? You can't speak Malay?” said Tan Boon Wah.
Tan was called in by the MACC as part of the investigation into the alleged misuse of public funds by state executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah.
Tan, who is also a businessman, had last year supplied flags worth RM2,400 for Ean Yong's constituency of Seri Kembangan.
“They asked whether I supplied flags. I said yes but then I was forced to admit that I did not supply the flags,” said Tan.
He added that he could not furnish the MACC with details of the transaction during the investigation because he needed time to look for the documents.
Tan, who went to the MACC office on Wednesday evening, also claimed that he was subjected to torture and was threatened that he would be beaten if he refused to admit to allegations made by the investigators.
“I was shouted at: 'This is my place, you better believe that I can hit you',” said Tan.
“I was then asked to stand and look straight. I was not allowed to rest my head. I was made to stand for four hours,” he added.
Tan said the MACC officials also threatened to arrest his wife and detain his children .
He denied that detainees were provided with beds to sleep on after interrogation.
He said that while under detention, he met Teoh Beng Hock early yesterday morning at the MACC office pantry and he looked tired.
Tan added that he was also told by an MACC investigator not to talk about the interrogation, before he was released yesterday afternoon.
“The MACC officer said don't bring the matter outside, but one life has ended, so now I have to,” said Tan.

These threats must never be allowed to be overlooked and those who so threatens must be brought to justice! Whether empty threats or not, or whether made in jest, anyone who so threatens must bear the brunt of the full force of the law!

a) The guy committing suicide, or fell off by himself at MACC's place a day before his wedding; or

For a while I thought that there is hope under this administration. Yesterday morning, if I am ask with the question how I rate the first 100 days, the answer is "GOOD". I will even vote for BN. But today, I felt cheated, it is just another illusion created by BN. I guess, there is no other way but to change them all in PRU13.

A Malaysian friend who has a relative working in the police force told me this long ago...during our University days in the UK:
If the police has killed the victim under their custody, they will push the body down the building to make the death appear as a suicide. This is a clever cover-up for the police. A very neat solution they have come up with since they know the best cover up to deflect blame away. Then, they can answer "I don't know" to all the questions raised by the public and the victim's family.
If during a car chase, the police has shot one victim, the remaining victims will also be shot. Otherwise, the remaining victims can act as witness. This way, the case can be closed out neatly....no messy trails and remnants.
I am a foreigner. Reading about Teoh's death make me sad.
I hope the police and interrogators will get to have a taste of their own medicine real soon. Then they can feel how Teoh's family feel. I hope the loved ones of the police and interrogators will suffer "mysterious" death or better still, suffer from terminal illness.

everybody who blogs here - pls spend at least 1.5 hours per day to blog in overseas website to inform all foreigners not to invest in Iskandar development as the govt are trying to kill the chinese. if 1,000 bloggers blogs for 1 hour per day and spread the word, we will have 30,000 hours of blogging to inform investors around the world to stop FDIs from coming in, this will punish the UMNO goons and force them out of office. Continue to recruit more bloggers to blog against UMNO in other countries, and we all will boycott Petronas and also Proton, no more buying Proton cars and also boycott all GLCs companies by not buying their products. Boycott Sime Darby by not buying their properties and boycott CIMB by transfering our funds to other banks. Let's see how UMNO will reacts to this if we continue this crusade until the next GE!!!

I vehemently against any unnecessary threat aggression during interrogation. but i am slightly amused and think the passing remark they made to Tan is spot on. If one cant speak Bahasa, Kebangsaan, I wonder if he/she can be proud claiming Malaysian.

First of all, let me be very loud and clear that it is people like yourselves here who have expressed anger, disgust and disillusion as well as despair allow these incidents to happen in Malaysia. Why, because you, your parents and grand fathers and great grand fathers allowed this to happen by buying lock, stock and barrel from the various ethnic parties MCA, GERAKAN, DAP etc.
Secondly it is your people who have allowed these incidents to happen by being ignorant about the law and constitution of Malaysia before and after independence. I say this because your elected party officials who is supposedly to look after the interests of their constitutents were asleep when they amended the constitution of Malaysia for more than 140 times over. USA which is the oldest independent country have only 46 amendments to their constitution. Malaysia, after independence from 1957 have more than 140 go figure. So if I were you, I will first of all get all these so called opposition dormo removed from their high tower. All these is because you allowed these to happened in somemway or form.
Yes, it is good and healthy to rage and shout here but in reality, are you all really so bold as to come as a group and oppose the rulingparty ? When push comes to shove, I don;t think so. Here lies the dogma of the Malaysian Life. This few lines is penned with the exact intension to arouse your inner self as non bumis in Malaysia. Are you all ready for this ? I dont think so. Until all of you hav ethe balls to admit it and the courage to follow through, Malaysia will always be a third world nation whose politics will always be along racial lines. So stop huffing and puffing until you are ready to walk the walk and talk the talk.

It's very clear that MACC is working on smearing DAP MP and the opposition party member, their task is not to investigate corruption perform by our so call leadears especially those functioning under UMNO/BN/MCA/MIC.
Hence - this is politically motivated by the ruling government to continue to use government agencies and forces to support the ruling government interest. Thanks PM Najib and your team, this one of the best gift that you have for us as rakyat after the 100 days.
I am not a strong supporter of PR but looking at how all this event unfold, I had no choice but to support the opposition. The reason is simple the abuse can continue to happen to any rakyat regardless of race or religion, as long as you are not supporting the ruling government - you are consider as criminal to the Malaysian ruling government.
Hence - this is politically motivated by the ruling government to continue to use government agencies and forces to support the ruling government interest. Thanks PM Najib and your team, this one of the best gift that you have for us as rakyat after the 100 days.

I remember, when MACC was re-brand from ACA with new name, new logo and new uniform last eyar, one of the top dog of their HK’s counterpart ICAC (Daniel Li - Deputy Commissioner and Operations Head) came over here, gave his well wishes and brotherly’s support for the new MACC. As I see, all these are gimmics really.
Look like the MACC did not pick up any good practice from the HK’s ICAC that we all learn from those HK’s serial drama like:-
a)The standard procedures of interrogation.
b)The setting of the interrogation room, the triangular shape table and CCTV, etc.
c)The provision for the presence of a lwayer.
d)The art of “drinking coffee”, etc, etc.
The death of Teoh had not only tarnished the good name (if there is any) of the MACC and our country, it had also tarnished the good name of the HK’s ICAC. And for god’s sake, since we are competing to attract those huge investment funds from the Greater China Region, I think what MACC requires is more than just a re-branding exercise. Get real and get cracking to catch real BIG fish, i.e. the black hands behind the death of Teoh. He must NOT die in vein.
