KOTA BARU, July 19 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) will use the development module to be implemented in Manek Urai as the model for continuous development in Kelantan although the party had lost in the by-election in the state constituency on Tuesday.
Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said the move showed that Umno and the BN were sincere in implementing development programmes although the party had lost in the election.
He said the BN government would continue to implement projects through the ‘people-friendly and caring society’ slogans.
“We (BN) will translate the development module implemented in the Manek Urai state constituency as a continuous development model in Kelantan,” he said at a media conference after attending a development meeting with the heads of federal departments at the Federal Development Department (JPP), here today.
Mustapa, who is also the International Trade and Industry Minister, said the BN government did not want the people to become political victims because of its failure in the election and that was why it would continue to implement development programmes for the people despite the party’s loss in the election.
He said the federal government would reduce bureaucratic red-tapes by giving priority to the welfare of the people regardless of their political background.
He said according to a study at the grassroots level, it was found that about 700 people in the Manek Urai constituency were categorised as living below the abject poverty line and disabled group who must be given aid compared with only 500 previously.
Mustapa, who is also the Member of Parliament for Jeli, said the government planned to provide an allocation of RM3,000 for each family to repair their houses besides RM30,000 for building new homes.
Meanwhile, he said the issue on the oil royalty claimed by the Kelantan government had been handed over to a more credible party to resolve the matter.
He said the issue was now at the negotiation stage and it was being studied from the legal aspects under the Petroleum Development Act and Concession Agreement by Petronas. – Bernama

What's the point of talking too much?
UMNO now only realized what damage Muhyiddin had done during Manek Urai election campaign.
Can they mend the broken?
Of cause they can't. Rectification needs money, a lot of money. You may ask, UMNO have money, so what's the worry? Indeed, with the amount of wealth seized in UMNOputras' hand, they can do enormous development for the country. Hitherto, Malaysia is only trailing behind more and more countries.
Back in the 70s, Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand used to be way behind Malaysia economically. Today, BN/UMNO government go begging for investment from Korea, Taiwan and China, without sense of shame. Thailand is not out of the running either, they closing up the gap with Malaysia, hopefully the day never come for Malaysian government to go canvassing for investment from the Thai.
The problem is that there are far too many buaya in UMNO (and BN, of course), which have greed larger than Tyrannosaurus. UMNO make many bold promises, they want to do this for you they want to do that for you. When comes to time of implementing, the money allocated for the projects get siphoned by the buaya-buaya sekalian in a flash of light. The rakyat hear a lot of loud thunder, but it never rains, it will never rain.
Janjian-janjian kosong are all that UMNO/BN can offer to rakyat. It is no eaception this time (and next time, and time after next.....)
