SEPANG, July 20 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin plans to introduce an annual 1 Malaysia camp for students to instil a sense of unity in them.
The deputy prime minister and education minister said 1 Malaysia was one of his four key performance indicators (KPI) for the Education Ministry.
“In this camp, I hope that the eight values of 1 Malaysia will be learned and planted in all the participants and therefore help push the concept of 1 Malaysia and the national education philosophy,” he told the audience at a workshop on the Education Development Master Plan (PIPP).
Muhyiddin also stressed the importance of producing quality teachers and school heads.
“A policy to place teachers who are responsive to the needs of society is a priority. School heads must also be people who are smart in interpreting, understanding the tasks given, committed and able to increase their knowledge so they can translate the education policy to daily tasks and be able to give the best education to their students,” he said.
Muhyiddin wants the education system to continue producing knowledgeable human capital who are productive, creative and innovative.
“Priority must be given to efforts to produce students who are proficient in both Malay and English language. Therefore, PIPP must realise that education is the key to achieving a Malaysian society that has integrity, morality and ethics,” he said.
He explained that it was important for the government to continue providing the necessary infrastructure because there are still remote schools which did not have electricity and clean water.
Muhyiddin said the education system must be able to produce quality students who are capable of mastering the three Qs — intellectual quotient, emotional quotient and spiritual quotient.
“This has to be the minimum requirement which is in line with the spirit of the national education philosophy,” he said.

Parents of young children will not want to send their kids away - given the track record of NS camps! No way, jose!
Safety & well being of my kids takes priority over the half-baked 1Malaysia slogan, sorry to say.

If this 1Malaysia camp is to foster unity, then what is the national service scheme doing eh?
Please, I am not going to pay for this!

Then, the instructor would probably tell those students to not question the "social contract" and that they should be thankful that they were granted citizenship.
Then the students will ask what is this "social contract" and where can they obtain a copy of it?
The instructor would then brush off the question by talking about the communist insurgency.
The students would then point out that the communist insurgency has nothing to do with citizenship.
The instructor will then tell them all to shut up and sing the 1Malaysia song while doing the 1Malaysia exercise routine.
I can't wait :)

Don't simply push for another pet project where your backyard is full of crap. The failure of English program have proven to us BN capability. No more empty promises - the real works count. Infact the National Service should be scrap off due to its expensive and propaganda nature.

From our educations' track records... we are getting from bad to worse.
Track record shows how inconsistent, fickle, "yo-yo" like policies.
Why not spend the money to better educate and raise the quality and standard and salaries of our dear teachers?
This camp, that camp... only serves to fatten some pocket somewhere... and in the end will just dwindle away as a forgotten project... while the Malaysian Public suffers from poor education standards.

Never continue to suggest all kind of crabs to Malaysia . Please work on how to make Malaysia move on .
The most important thing is to EDUCATE your enforcement officers what is 1Malaysia !!!!
Your enforcement officers NOT even know what is 1Malaysia , please don't talk crab to our young generations .
Our young generation will ask you one simple question , most of our government servants not even understand what is 1Malaysia , why you never teach them first ??!! Do you have answer for them ??
Send your Enforcement Officers to what what what of camps -lah ... But use your UMNO money , please never and never use RAKYAT money on these type of camps or crabs !!!
Sendiri pun tak tahu , lagi nak ajar orang ???!!!! Jangan malukan Malaysia lagi . Enough is enough !!!
Please ,do something that make Malaysia rasa bangga !!!! Kalau tak faham lag, sila balik ke sekolah belajar !!!

I think our communal politicians should look at themselves rather than at the children. Be responsible and the children will emulate. Be leaders who lead by example and the people will follow.

Now another Ministry is proposing another "MoneyPrinting Camp" for their own pockets that is.
For you guys who have hashed up this superb idea, please stop looking at stupid ideas like this- just to set yourselves up for life.
Want to teach young kids your cockeyed idea of 1 Malaysia? Just remember that our kids grow up "COLOUR BLIND" and it is only the parents, elders and indeed those teachers who have the screwed up idea of race and mastery who brainwash our children to be race conscious.
Let me suggest a more effective and definitely cost free way to acchieve 1Malaysia.
Make sure all kids sit, study and play together - make sure Ah kow does not sit with Ah Chai, Muthu with Samy velu, Dollah with Ahmad. Simply let them mix together all the time, play together and keep your racist principles out of the schools and you will have all these children growing up TRUE Friends! I grew up with Mus, Abu, Ramli, Hanifa, Shanta, Muthu, Morris, Peter, Reutens, Caple, even Hai jacob and his jewish relatives and we have remained friends since we were 7 years old. That is what I call Malaysians. We did not have 1Malaysia Camp or National service camps. We only jad the school field, the rambutan plantations, the local streams for our introduction to growing up as true Malaysians. Did not cost our parents any money.

Key performance indicators aka KPI is only a siok sendiri show.
3 Qs — intellectual quotient, emotional quotient and spiritual quotient are exactly the elements lacking in UMNO/BN goons.
