But some Malaysian Chinese or Indians have been here longer (some since the Melaka Sultanate days) than some Indonesian Malay Malaysians who emigrated here less than 2 generations ago. Does Dr M measure citizenships with the number of generation one family has been here?

What more can I say. Maybe what can really satisfy Mahathir is for all non-Malays to get out of Malaysia and 'return' Malaysia to the non-Malays. Dr. M's comment is a total waste of time to read. His remarks sows prejudice and jealousy. He's a stumbling block to a competitive country and the concept of 1Malaysia. Well Mahathir is not being racist this time, but he up to something for sure.
Judging from his previous patterns as he plotted against Badawi, he is now pointing gun barrels at Najib.

Mahathir knows that Najib is more capable of brutality than Badawi, to confront with Najib, he needs strong excuses, and he needs to draw vast support to his side. Nobody was listening to him when he objected Najib's new economical approach, he did not get the attention when Najib also turned down proposal of reviving his crooked bridge.

Playing the racial card has been his strong suit, but he probably is getting old, suffering from lapsus memoriae as he forgot that when he was shooting Badawi down he also mentioned that UMNO's Malays (in reference to Badawi and Khairy gang) had gathered more wealth. His flip-flopping has seen the precentage figure of how wealth is distributed in the country changed all too often.

Surely, there are thick skulls who still believe in Mahathir, but the number is decreasing sharply. Najib is no push-over like Badawi, it might be too much for an aged Mahathir to topple him.

Try harder Toon Mahathir, you may need to bring up your archaic "Perjuangan Melayu" theory again, see if it still works; shed some tears, that might dramatize it a bit.

You can devise any political policies. Short of a genocide, the Chinese and Indian diaspora will prevail as shown in so many states in the world. This is not because of racial extremism practiced by the Indians or Chinese. It is because they adopt the principle of excellence. Like the Jews of the world, they are the key to the local economy. Remove them and the entire economy suffers. Look at Uganda. Look at Indonesia. Just as the Chinese underpins the SE Asian economies, the Indians do the same in Bahrain, Dubai and Fiji, just to name a few.
I recently was able to work in a American-Vietnamese community. The successful ones are Chinese Vietnamese by a long shot.
So it is not about NEP or 1Malaysia. It is about the genes, the culture, the family, the attitude, the values that is unique. Politicians should not play God.
You want Malaysia to be like Singapore? Remove all the crutches and apply free , unfretted trade and meritocracy. The Indians and Chinese would bring the per capita GDP up many many fold. In the same vein, curtail the Indians and Chinese or even remove them and the national economy will nose dive. That TDM is the dilemma.

To do biz, the mind set have to be right first. Chinese people have to gone through the fund raising cycle to get the biz started and mostly they fund the biz themself, they learned it hard way, so they will "keep" thier fortune for a lifetime. It's thier heart and soul thing. On the flip side, the bumiputera were spoon-feed, all the funding were easy to obtain(It's someone else money), so doing some quick sale if lucky earn extra cash or got burn and close down. Not to mention the 30% stock holder, no obligation right, kind of. Who care, it's not thier money anyway. This is a black hole and I think the income tax money collected should have better thing to invest to benefit all Malaysian for years to come.

After 39 years the share of the Malays are only 20%! Your know why Tun, it is because the other 20% belongs to you and your cronies from UMNO which is not in your calculation. Your agenda is for your Son's future in UMNO in your sick way of thinking.

Banking & insurance, transport, highways and aviation, airports & seaports, power & utilities, oil & gas, supermarkets & hypermarkets, telecommunication, medical and hospitals are all majority owned/controlled by bumiputras and GLCs. Plantation and building ,construction & development the bumiputras are on par or just about on par with the non bumis. If you look at it that leaves the manufacturing industry, timber, medium and small retail biz, hawking, NFO, coffeeshops and other small biz in the hands of the non malays. Even until today the EPU dare not reveal its methodology in calculating bumiputra ownership of the natinal economy after it was hotly disputed by Dr Lim's paper that bumiputra ownership has exceeded 45% for quite some time.

Throughout your political career you have manipulated figures and statistics to play up the fears of the malays losing their land and rights to the non malays to stay in power. You are a master of divide and rule tactic. You even do that with your own party. You must admit the mistakes made, and not just your arguments that the Malays are not there yet and the NEP should stay until they are THERE. Give us a business plan, a workable one please and see how things can move forward for the deprived Malays. You must come with clean hands for if your hands are soiled, the results will be the same, non achievement.

Are you prepared to bite the bullet and accept a non Malay to run the NEP program for you without any political interference? If the answer is a no, then I think you are not ready to face the reality on the ground and the poor Malays will remain poor because of your inability to confront certain issues that is really personal in nature.

It is true that the chinese control the economy,and no one can dispute that. But the reason for this is that UMNO itself allowed the economy of the malays to deteriorate by taking most of the wealth for themselves and not reinvesting, but spending on luxuries and non income generating assets.
As for Tun Mahathir, he himself has created a number of chinese billionaires and millionairs. Vincent Tan was a struggling ex second hand car and insurance salesman who just got the Mc Donald's franchise when he was gifted with Sports Toto by Tun M. The YTL group was also not doing well, until Tun gave them the IPP licence on a silver platter. Lee Kim Yew was rescued by the govt when his Mines project faced severe cash flow problems. Robert Tan was given the franchise to rent and maintain all govt vehicles. Ting Peck King is still getting huge 'negotiated' contracts from the govt.
There are scores more of chinese businessmen who have benefited from UMNO politicians. Azim Zabidi is the chairman of the company owned by Tiong in the PKFZ fiasco. So for those who say that the chinese are skilled and entrepreneural etc etc, it is only partly true. They have thrived in South East Asian countries, where corruption is rampant, and where politicians can be bought. The malays on the other hand are laid back and lulled into complacency by the few crumbs thrown at them as chairmen and directors of companies.

Hello Dr. M, with all due respect, i sincerely hope you will take some time off from your all yr daily routines and spend some quiet moment with Allah. I wonder how can this person (Mahathir), qualified to become PM for Malaysia for so long. What is wrong with Mahathir's mind. He is obviously ignorant about the reality and fact of this world. Malaysia is an open economy, the Chinese build their wealth by working hard and working smart. The Chinese did not seize anything from the Malays, nor do they impose any unfair policies upon the Malays to make them poorer. In the past 30 years, the Chinese has supported BN government that impose the NEP policies. Malaysia has given plenty opportunities to the Malays in terms of education and business. If the Malay did not treasure the opportunities and turn that into gold, is the Chinese to be blamed? If it is not because of NEP, Malaysia would have at least 1,000 Lim Goh Tong and 100 Robert Kuok. So my question is: Is there anything wrong with working hard? Is Mahathir suggesting that the Malay are deserved to be rewarded without having to work hard? We are now facing a globalised world. If given a choice, my Chinese friends told me they rather leave the country and let the Malays to enjoy what they call "their land". I know a lot of Chinese are doing better in other countries. Indonesia only existed in the late 40s lah, coined by a mat-salleh who changed his name to Setia Budi. It's a nationality, not race, not ethnic. Nusantara is split by many hundreds(if not thousands) of indigenous tribes Minang, Aceh, Jawa, Bugis, Banjar, Senoi, Negrito, Sulu, Madura etc just like the Chinese with their Teocheo, Hakka, Canton, Hainan; Indians with Punjabi, Malayalams etc; and Arabs with their various tribes. Indonesia and Malaysia(Malaya) are later-formed nations and nothing more than political-partitions set up in the Middle East.

Can't help noticing you use nationality labels for Chinese and Indians but go tribal and provincial with the ethnic Malays. Perhaps that's your way to divide us.

2) What is Bumiputra? My grandparents from China but my parents are born here and I am born here and was raised here, why am I being call Chinese Malaysian? While plenty of others with grandparents from Indonesia are being called Bumiputra? Do I not love Malaysia as much as my Bumiputra friends? Adakah ini satu pembangunan yang sihat. Negara kita ada 13 negeri and 1 wilayah persekutuan.

Yang Berjaya kerana Pemberian , ya pemberian , anugerah kerajaan pimpinan UMNO, ala Seyd Ahamad Al Bukhari, Tun Daim Zainuddin, Kebanyakan Menteri Cabinet khusus nya UMNO and Parti Sabah and Parti Sarawak BN and 600 ratus Kontraktor Klas F ie mereka mereka yang jadi ahli Umno, lupa saya pulak , apa nama dia - ah ya ya Tun Pattinggi , Menteri Besar Sarawak, Dato Khir Toyo, Mike Tyson aka Muhammad Taib (dia ini popular sampai ke Australia) dan banyak lagi

Cabinet and Tun Daim khusus nya amat berjasa dalam Pemberian and anugerah anugerah serupa dan semua rakyat jelata malaysia patut ingat Jasa jasa ini.

3) Pendek nya - kita telah mendapat infrastrukur klas A dalam setengah projek dan yang lain , kita hanyak kena imbas balik kes Bukit Lanjan NKVE, Bumbung Bangunan Parliment, Kes Jatuh Tayar Besi Keretapi Monorail di bukit Bintang, Banguanan Bangunan Putrajaya yang kurang kualiti atau pun banyak bangunan sekolah yang menghiasi surat khabar tapi tidak dapat ingat atau ala Tun kita hanya bertanya "apa nama" - terlalu banyak kes dan tiada tindakan

4) Semenyak tahun 1970 an lagi, Sekolah Kebangsaan bermakna -Bahasa Pertuturan Umun, untuk pengajian and ujian adalah Bahasa Melayu , yang tukar nama kepada Bahasa Malaysia and Balik Kepada Bahasa Melayu. Semua kaum Semenanjung and Sarawak Fasih dalam pengunaan nya ..Fasih sangat sampai bila hendak anak anak kita belajar dalam Bahasa Ingerris atau English , banyak masalah , segi strategi atau perlaksanaan , hingga sekarang kita kan pusing balik jarum..Ini semua bila tun adalah Menteri Pendidikan , Naib Perdana Menteri and Sejurus nya Perdana Menteri Selama 22 tahun. Tun adalah Ahli Cabinet dengan jawatan menteri semenyak 1973.
