KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — The Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia appeared set to raise the temperature on the race debate when the newspaper published an opinion today calling on the Malays not to be cowards anymore and rise up to face the challenges being posed by the Chinese and Indians in Malaysia.
In an opinion piece written by journalist Noor Azam, the newspaper also continued singling out the Chinese-dominated DAP as the main party manipulating the Malay leaders in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) into achieving its own agenda.
But the article focused heavily on scare-mongering and warned the Malays that they stood to lose if the PR alliance came to power.
“Based on the number of non-Malay candidates which could win the next general elections, it can be imagined which ministries they will want.
“Who will hold the position of Chief Secretary. Secretary-generals, department director-generals. Senior officers and district officers? Who will be senior officers in the police and military?”
“Witness what has happened in Penang, Perak and Selangor. The Malay special rights and the NEP is no more.”
The article does not, however, explain how Malay rights have been eroded in the three states won by PKR and DAP in last year’s general elections.
It goes on to claim that the strategy of the opposition was to stir up racial issues to cause the public to be angry towards whatever powers the Malays have left in Malaysia.
The article claimed that Malays held power over the monarchy, the courts, the police and the military.
“Strangely there are many Malay-Muslims who are also expressing hatred for the powers held by their own race. The Malay race has become a race of stupid cowards, and people who are cowards will die before even their deaths.”
The writer points out that “what the Chinese and the Indians want now is more political and administrative power, not justice and democracy.”
He also equated Malay political power with the power held by Umno which he claimed is what the Chinese and Indians wanted to erase. The writer argues that the erosion of Malay political power by the non-Malays could only be achieved with the help of PAS and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The attacks and the hatred shown by the opposition and Chinese and Indian political activists towards the Malays has worsened. They are purposely showing their bravery and rude actions. Except they have not started marching and unzipping their trousers as they did during the May 13 tragedy.”
The writer laments, however, that the Malays have become a race of cowards by not reacting to the Chinese and Indians.

Selama berpuluh-puluh tahun tak pernah ambik kira nasib orang melayu baru sekarang menggelupur nak menjaga hak orang melayu.
My question is...who is the real coward?

Albeit of being so ass-licking towards Mr N's 1Malaysia concept, he still so greedily think that there should be anymore Malay special rights and the NEP which made the Malays too comfortable with the aids of government without suffering, experience the real deal of making a living like the Chinese, Indians did and still do.
Again, if I understand the 1Malaysia concept correctly (although I doubt it just mere gimmick), there should not anymore be a The Malays, The Chinese, The Indians. Whereas there should only be "Malaysian". Thus, Malays special rights all these while should be stripped off, give it to the poor and unfortunate instead, no matter they are off Malay, Chinese, Indian or even other races.
So, Noor Azam, think, and think and think again (maturely of course), before putting such obscure load of crap into the public. Or else you intention is well stated, as to raise hatred among races?

I am a non-Malay and have a healthy respect for all races for which I do not judge by the colour of their skin but by the nature of their character. Martin Luther King, an African-American had to say this in White-dominated US of the 1970s in order to push through equality. Look at the African-Americans now. Like other ppl, they have risen from the bottom chains of poverty to the top seat of their nation's leadership. If Utusan challenges us like this, perhaps a Non-Malay Malaysians can rise to this occasion to lead all Malaysians forward.

Yes, Malays are coward for not demanding that the government stop feeding them by the teaspoon but teach them how to compete so that they can feed themselves and be fed by a big plate.
Shame on Utusan for having such a low caliber of writer!
The Chinese and Indians want all Malays to progress by uplifting themselves so that we as a nation can be stronger and move forward. Those days where the government collect taxes from the Chinese and Indians and buy the Malays with tokens is over. Can you imagine what a country we are going to be if the majority of the malays are beggars. This is exactly what the UMNO leadership has done to the Malays for the past 50 years.
Fortunately for the internet, the Malays are out of their tempurung and ready to fight for their country by demanding a fair and equitable treatment of its citizen. We don't need Malay unity or Chinese unity or Indian unity. What we need is Malaysian unity and at last we have a viable PR that can give that to us.

The writer's opinion only reflects a deep feeling of inferiority, insecurity and blame others for their plight. In my almost 50 years living in this country, born and bred here, I have not really known or read of other races fighting to take away the rights of the Malays. All I know is that people of all races wanted to be treated fairly, justice be righteously implemented and a good governance that would benefit all Malaysians.
I urge all Malaysians of all races to build themselves to be better with knowledge, skills, right attitude and build this nation. And we can only achieve it by coming together as Malaysians, and not as Malay or Chinese or Indian, or whatever and not to lord over others.
Can we do this? I challenge the Utusan writer to write an article to promote the breaking down of racial barriers and create call for more racial harmony.

When it comes to 'religious sensitivities' the Utusan well discuss the greatness of Islam and how non muslims are 'disrespecting Islam'. When in reality no one disrespects Islam like the people in Utusan. What about the equality under Islam for all Muslims? If I am not a Malay, but am a Muslim, I am not a Bumiputera and thus have no privileges under the NEP. This is race profiling that is wrong in Islam. No reaction from the venerated Ulama on this.
If the Chinese are accused of being 'money minded', well the ruling Malays are even worse on this score! Safe guarding their 'privileges' all the way even when it is against Islam.
Malaysia is special because of its multi racial composition. Let's embrace that and leave the gutter politics aside.

PKR must come out with a clear statement of their position on Malay rights. It is not enough to say that all Malaysians will be treated equally. The DAP's Malaysian Malaysia does not sit well with the Malays as many amongst them do not believe that they are ready for open competition with the Chinese. There must be a clear statement as to how the Malays will be better off without the NEP.
I honestly believe that any Government must commit itself to ensuring that the wealth and opportunities of the nation are shared equitably amongst all its people and that Government policies will always ensure that no one race is left behind.

Malay is in fact a very friendly and hospitable race, honest and god fearing. I grown up in the 60s in a kampung, we had classmates of different races playing together, visiting each other and even spending night trips outstation. We cared not what we ate....Malay friends had their halal food, Indians beef free and Chinese walloped what they could, yet we could sit together chatting away. Do you have such scene nowadays...very rare!
The many years of power greed, lop-sided educational policies, affirmative action policies, indecisive idiotic authorities and brainwashing by UMNO in its divide and rule scare tactics have in fact caused more divisions amongst the races. YET they incorrigibly fight for what is WRONG..reasons being for the power and wealth so they could plunder more and more. The country is sliding backwards and getting poorer by the days. CHANGE, WE NEED CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!!!

I would urge the home minister to remember the words of his grandfather, the late Onn Jaffar. He said "the only way forward for this nation is to think as one, to believe as one and to act like one". These words were drops of pearls, inspired by Allah for the good of all mankind.
Dear Dato Hishahmuddin, as home minister, you now have the power to make or break this nation, which is in the brink of collapse. You will make the nation proud if only you act as the leader of one nation, not as a Malay, Chinese or Indian but as a Malaysian. Show the people, in your actions, that you really care, like your grandfather would have wanted. Put an end to this type reporting/comments in the Utusan. You know what the consequences will be if you do not take action now. Be all you can. Love all and hate none.
May Allah always guide you like he did your grandfather.

This is as good a reason for a change of government as one can get from an UMNO newspaper!
To Encik Noor Azam, I salute you. Whether intentionally or otherwise, you have made it crystal clear that the UMNO/BN's policies were ineffective and wrong in concept and execution.

Malays are friendly and tolerant people who work and play which is lacking in some of us.Lots of Malays are doing well in life without Govt help and have carved out their niche in society.I am of course not referring to UMNO elite cronies which also consist of Chinese and Indians.
Today Malaysians of all races have become more liberal in thinking pushing old racial-cultural and religious mind sets seeking for a more universal, rational and justice based values where all Races in Malaysia will see as one in the diversity of the Malaysian Mosaic. That is our Malaysian Uniqueness.
Racist bigots like Azam and his nazi bosses of the UMNO don't want this as they still want to maintain the divide and rule policy pushing each race into silos rather than live an integrated and a fully networked society.
When elections approach these same UMNO racist cockroaches will come and pally with the non-Malays and the neglected majority of the Malays to beg, bribe and manipulate to get votes.
Since I am against ISA Azam and Utusan should be given a fair trial.

Please do not equate Melayu with UMNO, Utusan Malaysia or Bumiputera Policy. Melayu in origin is a peaceful, polite and humble race whereas UMNO, Utusan Malaysia and Bumiputera Policy are mere political games that are played by some people who belong to the Malay race. Malays, during the time of Melaka sultanate accepted Chinese, Indians, Arabs and many other people to be the citizens of Melaka without any condition. Interracial marriage was a common thing in those days. There was no ISA to abuse people and they enjoyed life much better than we are today.
It was UMNO's version of Hikayat Hang Tuah that showed the Malays as the only defenders of the land when the Portuguese came. It was UMNO's version that the Indian-Muslims were the betrayers who provided the insider's information about the weakness of the local army. It was UMNO's version that the Chinese dynasty did not help when Melaka was conquered. It is UMNO who created all this social contract nonsense just to remain in power and get more money for themselves.

The Malays will keep quite about it, even they know UMNO and Utusan are bullshiting, because if they speak out, they will be labeled as "Penderhaka Melayu".
The non-Malays (Cina la, Indians la) lagi takut, holding their lips together as tight as disturbed a clam, because if they speak out, UMNO and Utusan will accuse them as making "tuntuan terlampau", Kerishamuddin would plunge his unsheathed keris into their bodies, Najib will bath his saber with Chinese blood.
Again again again and again, racist UMNO and their mouth-pieces get away from it.
Again again again and again, UMNO divert rakyat's attention so they continue to do evil. Trillions (not billion, trillion) of Ringgit had been sucked away by UMNO/BN and their cronies.

People of ALL Races, a.k.a. MALAYSIANS, please let's not be fooled by the UMNO's Evil & Wicked scheme.
If you love our beloved country, REJECT outrightly these bigoted, chauvinistic and racially prejudiced remarks that will stir up the emotions of the uninformed and ignorant. This is very irresponsible of people who claim to defend their own race. People of all races will suffer including their own, when there is a conflict. What we right thinking MALAYSIANS desire is to live peacefully, respecting and helping each other. Politicians with their cohorts and minions are ever ready to cause chaos and disunity amongst races for them to continue to hold on to their position and power.
We, loving MALAYSIANS of ALL Races - DO NOT ALLOW THE FEW SELFISH POLITICIANS WITH PERSONAL AGENDA TO HOLD US RANSOM. Do not fall into their tricks and traps. NO ONE is going to benefit EXCEPT those with personal gains. They are only using the race card to divide and rule.
Stand Up our fellow MALAY country men. Race should not be an issue - Justice and Fairness are the way to go. Our enemy is NOT our MALAYSIANS (Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban, Dayak, etc., etc.). The government seems to be enemy to the Rakyat. The government should be more responsible to reign in those trouble makers. We appeal to the right thinking RAKYAT of ALL races to close rank to fight the Bigger Enemy - the economy challenges and the A(H1N1). A responsible Government or Newspaper should unite the RAKYAT for the common good and not to trample on each other.

The editors and brains behind Utusan must either be clogged, blocked, primitive, under-developed, impaired, damaged, deformed, lost, degenerated, KOed, crazed, tiga-suku, lembab, twisted, cracked, or cuckooed.
If that is not the case, what else can be said of Utusan? A paper that condemns and belittle her own people!
No other ethnic groups would ever think of their Malay friends, neighbours, colleagues, and even relations through inter-marriages as being " dihina" as described and suggested by Utusan.
The paper is utterly insane, and/or most likely has ulterior motives, such as instigating and provoking the Malays to hate and to make an enemy out of the Chinese and friends of other ethnicities.
Is it that Utusan cannot stomach the friendship and the close, warm and genuine cooperation among the various ethnic groups in the country, especially between the Malays and other Malaysians of various backgrounds and religious beliefs?
In hindsight, and on the contrary, Utusan must be the one to be condemned for doing Malaysians a big disfavour by trying to create an ATMOSPHERE OF HATE among the peoples!
What kind of people are helming Utusan to have effected such a despicable and dishonourable act? They must be hauled to the peoples' courts to be questioned about their intent and covert objectives.
UMNO, who is said to own the papers, must be asked to answer the people, especially the Malays, regarding their evil deeds.
If the government have any sense of justice and fairness at all, they must revoke Utusan's licence, and get it to apologise to all Malaysians for making such unwarranted hate remarks.
Enough is enough.

The politically connected wants to get rich without working. They come out with all kinds of "get rich" schemes that appears politically correct.
An immediate reaction:
"Jika Melayu bukan bacul, mereka patut menyingkirkan segala hak keistemewaan yang tidak terkandung dalam perlembagaan, dan bertanding dari segi yang saksama."

Just want to express my sincere and heartfelt appreciation to my fellow Malay-Bumiputera countrymen who choose to look beyond our different branding. Please do NOT pay attention those who are only good at tearing things down. It takes a lot more courage and strength to build up our Tanah Air.....rather than to rely on handouts and continually blame others.
Thank you and God bless all of you.

The true struggle is the struggle of the mind. To become First World in mentality, to understand and apply Article 1 of the Human Rights Charter with a humanist outlook. Also to end the fascist / racist / apartheid reputation that Malays are increasingly being associated with everytime certain people open their mouth.
(1) Equality (No more Apartheid / No more Reserve Land / No more forcing of children to be of a certain religion - let them choose when they are adults etc.) Which ever political party that promises this will win the vote of all First World Minded Malays (Muslim and non-Muslim), all non-Muslim Sarawakians and Sabahans, all Indians, all Chinese and all Others, easily the majority of the population. (HINT : Instant win for GE13)
(2) Freedom from Corruption (No more multi-millionaire politicians, confiscate the wealth of those who profited from things like AP, those who have done so and own up or blow the whistle now however MUST be forgiven)
(3) Freedom from Nepotism (No more fiefdoms and relatives taking over their father's positions) Enough children, relatives, son-in-laws or hand me down Ministries and Bureaucratic posts resulting self glorification of the family involved, resulting in mediocre performance and self serving behavior.
(4) Freedom from ISA (No more detainees and detentions without trial) Malaysian is to be run by First World citizens only. No more Banana Republic Dictators
(5) Freedom from Military Conscriptions. This is a Human Right. Coerced militarisation is a Human Rights Abuse ! Inability to understand the spirit of volunteerism and punishing Self Determinism and Conscientious Objection is the mark of a Dictator !
(6) An IPCMC (Recommended by Royalty but thus far ignored by certain political parties) Stop
disrespecting the Sultans by not implementing their recommendation or dragging your feet !
(7) Ombudsman System (Politician free panels that have power to act) Watch every move of every one
handling every cent. Any lack of transparency means it's time to replace that stooge !
(8) LGBT freedoms and freedom of sexual expression. Abolish Section 377.
First World Malaysia. Even Malays

After loosing 6 Malay Majority Area in all by-election, UMNO DESPERADO is obvious, hence by all means these UMNO thugs try to stir up Racial Tension to stay in power forever.
Malays power only shifting from BN/UMNO to Pakatan Rakyat, PAS Malay gain 2 additional Menteri Besar
(Kedah & Selangor) , in Pakatan Rakyat :- while PR and PAS was lead by Malays leaders and only 1 DAP which was lead by Chinese.
.... what is the Basis and Logic saying Malays are loosing Political Power ???
it is obsolutely NONSENSE with this article intention is to instigate Malays feeling towards Non-Malays.
This is cheap low-end politiking....
