Murugiah feels for Soi Lek

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 — Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk T. Murugiah hopes that sacking will not become a trend among political parties, particularly Barisan Nasional (BN) components.

Murugiah who was sacked from the Peoples’ Progressive Party (PPP) in May said of late, there was tendency among BN components to sack members when faced with a problem.

“They sack members over trivial matters. Sacking is like a death sentence to them. It is not nice, their services to the party must also be considered.

“We are facing the Opposition, as such, don’t find the easy way out. We can discuss matters as sacking will cause problems for BN and its leaders,” he said after visiting the overhead bridge in front of SRJK (Tamil) Batu Caves here today.

Murugiah was commenting on the sacking of MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek on Aug 27 over a sex scandal in early 2007. He however said that Chua’s sacking was an internal matter for MCA and that he did not mean to dabble in the problem. — Bernama
