PUTRAJAYA, Sept 30 – There’s good guilt and then there’s bad guilt, going by the argument Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (picture) put forward today in defence of Tan Sri Isa Samad’s selection as Umno candidate in the Bagan Pinang by-election.
In praising the man whom Umno once found guilty of vote buying as “a loyal servant of the party”, Hishammuddin also called Isa the “people’s candidate,” in an acknowledgement to polls which suggest the former Umno vice-president was very popular in Bagan Pinang despite being tainted by his corrupt past.
“He is different from certain individuals who, when found guilty by the party, they are willing to curse the party that has served them. Tan Sri Isa is different. He is patient and strong, and his loyalty to the party is one matter which was considered by the top leadership,” he said.
Umno yesterday picked Isa as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Bagan Pinang by-election.
The by-election is expected to end Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) winning streak in all by-elections in the peninsula since the last general election as the constituency is considered an Umno stronghold.
Hishammuddin told reporters today that the party’s top leadership considered the wishes of the people when nominating Isa.
“The consideration the top leadership had in announcing Tan Sri Isa as our candidate is the fact that the people of Bagan Pinang and Teluk Kemang, and not only Umno but people of all races, wanted him,” he said.
Hishammuddin said that the opposition would try to tie Isa to his past but stressed that it was the voters who would decide Isa’s fate.
“At the end of the day, these people trying to tie him to the past are not the ones who are going to vote. The ones that are going to vote are the people there and the people there want him,” he said.
The Bagan Pinang by-election was made necessary following the death of BN’s Azman Mohammad Noor on Sept 4.
It is situated within the Teluk Kemang parliamentary constituency represented by PKR’s Datuk Kamarul Baharin Abbas.
Apart from Bagan Pinang, Umno also won the neighbouring Linggi state seat in last year’s election, while PR controls three other state seats in Teluk Kemang — Chuah (PKR), Lukut (DAP) and Port Dickson (PKR).
In March last year, Azman defeated Ramli Ismail of PAS, by some 2,000 votes.
BN is currently ruling the state with a simple majority after winning only 21 out of the 36 state constituencies.

Dear Mr Home Minister :- You should have given more intelligent answers which are politically motivitaed. Fortunately you are not the Education Minister anymore otherwise you have alot to explain to the children. Children can cheat because when they are caught they normally repent. So all children in Malaysia please do not follow this "Home Minister" who is only good in cooking excuses.

True enough many who dislike Isa are not voters in Bagan Pinang but they are voters in other constituencies who are against corrupt government and leaders. If UMNO keep on nominating tainted candidates the voters will remember and will punish them accordingly come the next general election.

When a home minister speaks, does he speak on behalf of his political party or expressing his view on behalf of government?
This is almost an insult to the position he holds.

Let the people vote and lets see if he is what they want. Pre-judgment of a candidate is an utter waste of time. Nothing speaks louder and judge better than the people's vote, that is if we get a fair by election.
To those involved, vote wisely. As for the rest of us, sit back relax and wait for the result.

The cow-head protesters were invited to his office. He tried to justify their protest......Other protesters(Non-BN) were treated with water gun and tear-gas......The cow-head protesters were treated as honorable quests and a "kopi" session ....
Today : ISA unlike other guilty leaders
He try to justify that since other "guilty" leaders( rustam, khairy), for example, had already being allocated with a post/job and had never been severely punished.
Therefore, this guilty leader, called Isa Samad should be given a chance to become a ADUN member....
UMNO leaders are a bunch of people without high principle and high moral. By doing this, it show to the Rakyat that UMNO is really unable to make a down-to-earth "reform". All the leader are guitly as a group because they are trying to cover up for each other.
They may win the battle, but will lose out in the war.
They don't get rid of the termites, but let them to go free, soon the house will be collapse one day.

Good reasoning but basically the postal votes are the strongest backup. That's why they are so confident. But I hope Pkatan will give them a good fight & maybe, even win the seat. That would be the greatest joy !

Simple reason there is a break in your own umnu party, that members will only follow their own leader not their leader.
This ugly book already being judge by its cover and the contents, there is nothing else to be "for instant" any more.

they are good guilty people right, those who carry candles fall under bad guilty.
I suppose same argument stands for your cousin he is good guilty murderer right!
Pathetic, this confirms my theory that Home Ministry and Information Ministry is reserved for people who talk through the wrong ends.
