DUNGUN, Oct 5 — Declaring that the opposition Pakatan Rakyat will not improve Malaysia if it takes over from Barisan Nasional, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad reserved his vitriol for PAS for flip-flopping over cooperating with non-Muslims to rule the country.
He said most of the leaders from the Opposition were seen to be willing to change their stand just to gain popularity and support from the people.
“I think things will only get worse. Their leaders are willing to make “halal” everything,” Mahathir was quoted as saying by the state Bernama news agency.
The former prime minister who ruled the country for 22 years until October 2003 has always fought with PAS and has resisted any cooperation with them. Apart from PAS, Pakatan Rakyat comprises DAP and PKR.
Mahathir’s greatest achievement was to lure PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to join Umno in 1982 instead of PAS. Anwar rose up to be deputy prime minister before he was sacked in 1998 on charges of sodomy and corruption.
“Previously, PAS had said cooperation with non-Muslims would make one an infidel but now not only are they cooperating with non-Muslims, they are also saying it is okay to rear pigs, only that Muslims should not consume pork.
“PAS quotes the Quran that pork is “haram” but that it did not say pigs cannot be reared. Going by this, it means we can rear pigs, can sell pork but not eat it. Just because they want the cooperation of some people, they are willing to compromise on their principles,” Dr Mahathir said.
His comments came two days after Umno put Tan Sri Mohamed Isa Samad to face PAS Negri Sembilan chief Zulkefly Omar to retain the Bagan Pinang state seat and cut Pakatan Rakyat’s unbroken string of victories in the peninsula since the general elections last year.
Mahathir opposed Isa’s nomination as the former Negri Sembilan mentri besar was suspended for three years from the party vice-presidency for vote-buying in 2005 and declared he will not campaign for Oct 11 by-election .
Earlier, the 85-year-old delivered a lecture entitled “Dari Minda Tun, Ketuanan Melayu” (From Tun’s Mind, Malay Supremacy) at Dewan Aspirasi Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Terengganu here.
Also present was UiTM vice chancellor, Tan Sri Prof Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah.
Mahathir further explained that Malaysia could ill-afford leaders who were inconsistent in their stand just for the sake of gaining popularity.
“It is just the same with another leader who is a now a strong supporter of Hindraf (the banned Hindu Rights Action Force movement),” he said without naming who he was referring to.
But the acerbic Mahathir recently had run-ins with MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, saying that his former ally should retire from politics and blaming him for BN’s loss in Election 2008.
Commenting on the future of Umno, the backbone of the BN, he said the party was still relevant but its leaders and members must be wise and brave in taking “corrective measures”.“If a leader does something that is not good, they must voice out...I laud the appointment of Senator Datuk Seri Idris Jala as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. There should be more appointments from outside the party in government leadership positions,” he said.
Idris’s appointment has raised the ire of Umno and Sarawak Barisan Nasional lawmakers who feel that they should have been consulted over the move. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has said the appointment is to ensure better governance.
In his speech, Dr Mahathir urged bumiputera students to be brave in competing with other races, including in pursuing higher education in private tertiary institutions that were not dominated by bumiputeras like UiTM.
They should prove their ability to compete by enrolling in institutions like Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman, he added.

How clever – what he meant was his own son can own and run the biggest brewery company in the world to make beer, to sell beer but cannot drink it. Indeed just because his son wants to make money from beer, they are willing to compromise with Satan.

Basically, the message of GE12 is that the rakyat had had enough of BN-UMNO rule after 52 years.
They are ready for a NEW MALAYSIA, with new approaches, new players, new mindset, new rules, new whatever that are necessary as we go along the path of the nation's growth in this new GLOBAL WILDERNESS.
We are sick and tired of the corruption and money politics and the OLD WILY POLITICIANS who are past their "used by" dates, etc., etc., and who had overstayed in their cosy corners and become deadwoods and liabilities, as you had pointed out on occasions.
Whether PR or any other entities come to run the nation is immaterial as long as there are integrity, accountability, transparency, competency, etc., etc.
The nation is NOT devoid of capable and trustworthy Malaysians, whether they are Malay, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Kadazan-Dusun, Dayaks, Orang Asli ( the TRUE BUMIPUTERA ),etc., etc., ready to answer the call of national service.
Just like yourself, when you were a young and eager soul back in the "good old days", the elders had their doubts too about the young and inexperienced. Now as you are in that wise golden age, we cannot blame you to have your reservations and doubts, which is natural.
Just as you had written somewhere too, that in politics there are no permanent friends or foes. The same applies to DAP, PAS, PKR, or just any other parties. Just like you they could change their "sleeping partners" too. Don't deny others what others did not deny you, Tun!
Religious and worldly knowledge evolve and change according to new wisdoms and circumstances. WHat you did not see, hear or feel in your early days are stark realities now. Dulu lain, sekarang lain. We have to adapt to changes, don't we? Or else we would forever be caught in the "comfort" of our tempurung, which is counter progressive and productive, as you would concur, Tun.
Let the young run the show, Tun. For better, or for worse, we move as one Malaysian. "Opposition" is not such a dirty word as you might have imagined; just as "Familiarity" do sometimes breed contempt! "Opposition will make Malaysia Worse" is such an old and tried way of telling BN that PR is A REAL THREAT! The "opposition", whoever they are, take this as a compliment!
The power of the ballot is also the wisdom of the electorates. Do not underestimate the intelligence and ability of the rakyat. If they could be "foolish" to have kept BN for so long, they could in the same breath, be "wise" to choose the opposition. There is only so much we could do, God also has His Plans.
Man proposes, God dispenses.

Yes and they should also prove their ability to compete by opening up bumi-only institutions like MARA to other races too.

There are so much Tun can contribute to this country. He is the only person who can tell off politicians from both side if he focus on neutrality. He can even tell off the Sultans if they too are wrong. Now that he choose to be taking side in politic and he subject himself to be criticised and as a result of that, what he build himself over the years to achieve such stature is gone.

First corrective measure that this country needs, is to convict you of the crimes that you, had committed towards this country. You maybe known as "Bapa Kemodenan", but I think many people would also agree, that you are also Bapa Rasuah.
A bigger hypocrite than you couldn't be found in this land presently; not Nazri, not Najib, not Rais Yatim, no, not even Keris-mudin. From the time you caused problems in 69 to this day, somehow you seem to always come back and spew venom. A man's destiny would either be ordained by God, or, be guided by the Devil.
Looking at the venom you have been spewing, the ISA that you strengthened, the UMNO/BN corruption that today is so emboldened that, so much so that the current PM can call it a "technicality" without any remorse or sense of embarassment....
I am inclined to believe that the same Devil that was behind the likes of Hitler or Idi Amin, inspires you. Why, the very fact that you are proud of what you think you have achieved in all your years, makes it all the more compelling that you must have some form of infernal inspiration!
But you know what Mahathir?
I think behind all that "mega" look that you seem to project, you are really a coward. No more than the Jaguh Kampung - that you are. You hide behind your positional security, by virtue that you were the ex-PM (and also the fact that you are an UMNO member), to avoid being held accountable for all your mis-deeds. I do remember though, that for awhile, you seemed to be shaking in your pants when the VK Lingam episode busrt onto the scene; but eventually, our gutless Rip Van Winkle of an ex PM didn't have the stomach to run the distance.
Any other part of the world, and you have would been rotting in jail. Why, as you like to remind us of the Japs whom you "admire" so much - a disgraced leader would have committed hara-kiri.
But there you are, riding into the sunset......
God is waiting for you.

After 18 months since 308, our leaders from both BN/PR still failed to accept the reality of 308 to be issues centered across race/religion/language/gender for Nation building based on merit to be competitive in this borderless world.
Issues dear to The Rakyat and Malaysia are handled along race/religion/language/gender and political divide like the education system along national/vernacular/religious stream with dwi and even tri-bahasa of BM with English/Chinese with English and Tamil with English for excellence in Malaysia but irrelevant in borderless world!
The way forward for Malaysia is for sensitive issues on race/religion/language/gender etc. be decided by the august House via secret ballot instead of show of hand which toe party line and cultivate Yes Man culture!
Meaningful opposition is essential to provide a check and balance on the Gov of both BN/PR!

Wake and notice this talam dua muka from the statement that he makes about others!
I rather give my vote to PAS instead of BN due to their lies, deceits, corrupt mindset and create racial tension.
Salam!

how can tun give judgement on pk which is in its infanity stage and has to face chaos CREATED BY UMNO in within their administration!!!! on teh contrary, tun should have said that the RAKYAT SHOULD VOTE AGAINST bn because it has too many corrupted and greedy personnels within bn!!! for 52 years it is still not fully advanced as compared to other asia countries who started off later than malaysia and has gone through massive governments changing hands and yet, they can and manage to be on top on malaysia!!!

If one despises pigs, he despises God's Creations as well.
For those who believe in and fear God, it is time to stop being hypocrites and bigots.
Pigs are certainly much better than hypocrites and bigots.
In Malaysia, such basic lessons need to be taught and learned by the ignorant and mentally skewed.
Their world is always under the tempurung; feel so sad for them. Even Munsyi Abdullah did better in his times. He proved to be much more learned, open minded, enlightened, intelligent, curious, impartial, magnanimous, etc., etc., than many who claimed him to be one of his own kind, when he was in reality of Arab-Indian descent, and never claimed to be a Malay at all. One has to read his writings, like Hikayat Munsyi Abdullah, to really understand and know who he actually is, and his intellect. Of particular interest is his caustic criticism of those who were lazy and opportunistic and lording over others. Please read Munsyi Abdullah's book at the very next opportunity, as it provides a lot of insight to Malaysian society, its people especially, and their characters then and now, which remain much the same!
Don't go on despising pigs, because it will reflect poorly and badly on yourself, in NO TIME!
Pigs are food for thoughts!

Hence, there will be god's creature who will rear and eat pork and those that will shun beef. Let it be that way and it makes the world a better place to live in.
By the way, no party in Malaysia is worst than BN and UMNO to rule Malaysia.
The better party is Pakatan Rakyat no doubt about it. It had demonstrated its competency, transparency and accountability and showed its good governance in Selangor and Penang.
BN is famed for the corruption at its worst and PKFZ, BMF scandal, MAS, Renong and Konsortium Perkapalan Bhd bailout , Khir Toyo and family and maid Disneyland fantansies at taxpayer's expenses all bear testimony to BN corrupt to the core.
Toll Highways contracts are covered by OSA to hide the BN's way of rewarding huge billions of ringgit to cronies starting from Mahathir's era.
I am sure Pakatan Rakyat is the sure way to good governance and is the way forward for Malaysia.

Geez whatever happened to the modernisation and stuff huh? Wow bringing Anwar into UMNO, yes he will always be remembered as that, greatest achievement. Instead of Bapa Pemodenan he will be remembered as Bapa Bawak Anwar Masuk UMNO according to this article.
Talk about spin this is quite impressive! I'd have to say Mahathir's biggest flaw is actually that.

Excuse me Dr. M, this is Malaysia and there are other races in this country as well. So if pig cannot be reared in this country, so should cow!! Some Buddhist they do not eat beef and I believe some Indian as well. So I guess in Malaysia, we can only rear other animals besides than pigs and cows. Come on Dr. M, you have ruled this country for 22 years and you do not remember that this is a multi-racial country? Stop the racial discrimination, this country should be a free country and everyone with different religion views should have self-control. Know what you can do and what u cannot do!!

All the more M, time for change. Time for PR to take over and for them to dig up all that dirt that you and your successors have been hiding and criminal trials can then proceed and to bring the evil people to justice. Even if they have died or fled, they must be tried in absentia and their names dragged through the mud.
