High court upholds conviction and sentence in sodomy case

SHAH ALAM, Oct 8 – The High Court here today upheld the conviction and sentence of 12 years and six strokes of the rotan on a former Royal Malaysian Air Force personnel for sodomising a 10-year-old boy 10 years ago.

Justice Datuk Su Geok Yiam made the order after dismissing the appeal of Zaimy Ahmad, 41, a former store-keeper at the Sungai Besi RMAF camp in Kuala Lumpur.

She also dismissed the application by defence counsel Ramzani Idris for a stay of the execution of the sentence and ordered that the jail term start today.

Zaimy was sentenced to 12 years jail and three strokes of the rotan by the Sessions Court in 2007 for sodomising the boy in a room in Block Merlin A at the RMAF barracks in Subang at about 8pm on Oct 28, 1999.

He received another 12 years jail and three strokes of the rotan for sodomising the boy at the same place at 9am on Oct 30 the same year. The sentences are to run concurrently. – Bernama
