SUBANG JAYA, Oct 24 — The government has allocated RM500,000 to the Malaysian Indian Restaurant Operators Association (Primas) for the setting up of an institute to train local workers.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said with the setting up of such an institute, it could reduce the government’s dependence on foreign workers, especially in the food industry.
“Although, the country has a large population, not many people are keen to work in this sector and we need to bring in foreign workers so that our food and restaurant industry can continue to grow.
“That is why, we will control the entry of foreign workers, and at the same time, we will train the local people and give them reasonable salary,” he said at a dinner organised by the association here yesterday.
Muhyiddin said the food and restaurant industry contributed about RM7 billion to the country’s economy.
He also said all Indian restaurants should have halal certifications, besides ensuring quality food and service as their clientele comprised all races.
At the function, Muhyiddin also launched Primas Marketing and Distributors Bhd which will act as a supplier of perishable goods to Primas members. — Bernama

500K is peanuts. But the gomen thinks indians can be easily manupulated with crumbs as shown by this apa nama Makkai sakti party or whatever name they called themselves.
If indians fall for this, good luck to them.
