KUANTAN, Oct 26 – A police manhunt for a fugitive is no longer big news these days, unless the man on the run happens to be 91 years old.
Police here are looking a nonagenarian who has gone into hiding for the past five days after allegedly attacking a neighbour with a machete.
The attack took place after the suspect had accused the victim of stealing his belongings.
In the incident at Kampung Bukit Serok near Rompin last Thursday, the 25-year-old Orang Asli victim sustained a slash wound on the head. He sought treatment at the Bandar Tun Razak clinic in Rompin, receiving five stitches on the left side of the head.
The suspect, who has a previous criminal record for criminal breach of trust, has since gone into hiding.
Pahang CID Secretariat Officer Noor Asyikin Shamsuri said in the 10am incident, the suspect who was armed with a machete, was believed to have gone to the victim's house and accused him of stealing his belongings.
“Using the machete, the suspect struck at the victim's head before the latter and his family fled to safety and lodged a police report.” – Bernama
