KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — National astronaut Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al-Masrie today failed in his bid to quash a suit filed by a businesswoman against him when the Sessions Court here dismissed with costs his application.
Judge Madihah Harullah, in a decision made in chambers, ruled that the suit filed by Norlina Nordin had merit for trial.
She fixed Nov 25 to mention the case for case management.
Counsel Dzaki Ezhar Bahar, who represented Sheikh Muszaphar, told reporters later that he would appeal against the decision at the High Court.
Dr Sheikh Muszaphar and Norlina were not in court today.
Norlina had filed the suit on July 25 last year claiming that Sheikh Muszaphar had breached the contract of her appointment as a personal assistant and demanded damages of more than RM90,000
In the statement of claim, she stated that Sheikh Muszaphar had not paid her wage as agreed in the letter appointing her as his personal assistant on April 2 last year.
She claimed that on May 28 last year, she received a letter of dismissal from Sheikh Muszaphar after she had secured various contracts.
She is seeking RM45,000 in wage, RM47,751 in damages, general damages and other costs deem fit by the court.
Sheikh Muszaphar, in his statement of defence, denied having appointed Norlina as his representative in any of his business dealings
He had also filed a counter claim against Norlina and for her to pay him RM25,000 which she had taken from the Negeri Sembilan Action Council, which payment was supposed to be made to him. — Bernama






These "Angkasawans" do not in any way contribute to to society as they are merely space tourists who tumpang a foreign spacecraft. Worse, the first one is clearly abusing his "celebrity" status. If uncontrolled, things could get oput of hand.
Please cancel the the Angkasawan program as it has absolutely no benefit for the public who funds it.
