KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — The family of dead DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock will file an application at the coroner's court in Shah Alam today at 3.30pm to exhume his body for a second autopsy by renowned Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand.
Lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, who is acting for Teoh’s family in the inquest probing the circumstances surrounding the death, said they want it done before the next inquest hearing on Nov 9.
Magistrate Azmil Muntapha Abas, who is acting as the coroner in the inquest, had previously indicated it may be too late to do so at such a late stage.
But Dr Pornthip, who is the director-general of the forensic science institute in Bangkok, had told the inquest last week that a second autopsy was still viable within six months of death.
Engaged by the Selangor state government, she told the coroner's court that Teoh's death was “80 per cent homicide”.
Dr Pornthip, who had performed over 10,000 autopsies in her career, added that Teoh's injuries at the anal region and neck showed a high chance he was sodomised and strangled before his fatal plunge on July 16.
She also said she would like the chance to autopsy Teoh.
Pathologist from two local hospitals who carried out the first autopsy on Teoh concluded that he committed suicide.
Gobind had previously said the Attorney-General (AG) should have been the one to file for a second autopsy after Dr Pornthip's expert evidence at last week's inquest contradicted the findings in the first autopsy.
The AG and MACC had challenged her view which was only based on the post-mortem report and photographs taken of Teoh's injuries and from the death scene.
Gobind added that Dr Pornthip should be allowed to carry out her own post-mortem so there will be no arguments that her views are inaccurate because she did not see Teoh’s body.
Teoh, a Buddhist-Taoist, was buried on July 20 at the Nirvana Memorial Garden in Semenyih.
His family had recently held a special rite according to Chinese customs to appease his soul on the 100th day of his burial.
The 30-year-old political secretary to Selangor executive councillor, Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead on a 5th floor landing at Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam on July 16.
He was hauled up by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to their office on the 14th floor of the building the day before to help investigations into alleged misuse of state allocations by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state lawmakers.
By MACC’s own admission, Teoh was only a “witness” to their investigations.
They have denied any responsibility for his death and maintained he was released earlier that morning.

Can we also get Dr Pornthip to comment on Kugan's case? Hindu's creamate their dead bodies, so her observation will be welcomed.
And on a personal note, I know this might be out of her area to examine living people, but Saifool's arse should also be examined by Dr Porntip, to see if he was indeed sodomised.
The MACC officials should be subjected to lie detector tests, and swearing on the Quran or their own religious materials to prove their innocence.
