KLANG, Oct 30 – A former police constable was charged at the magistrate's court here today, with the double murder of a toddler and his babysitter, about six years ago.
Mohd Nahar Abu Bakar, 33, faced the two counts of killing two-year-old Muhammad Nurosama Shohimi and babysitter Siti Rohana Baharom.
The toddler, who sustained two stab wounds on the back, was the son of former Klang Umno division secretary Shohimi Shafie. Siti Rohana, 34, was stabbed in the chest.
The offences were committed about 1pm, at No: 19, Fifth Floor, Flat Cempaka, Bandar Baru Klang on Dec 30, 2003.
No plea was recorded from Mohd Nahar who appeared calm when the charges were read out. Unrepresented, he faces the mandatory death penalty upon conviction under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The ex-policeman had been on the run for six years before he was caught on Oct 16 at a roadblock in Kajang.
Magistrate Afifah Mamat @ Yusof fixed Nov 13 for mention of the case. Deputy Public Prosecutor Kent Chia appeared for the prosecution. – Bernama
