IPOH, Oct 31 – The investigation report on the Kuala Dipang, Kampar suspension bridge tragedy that claimed the lives of three young school girls on Oct 26 is expected to be ready in two weeks, said Education director-general Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom.
He said the report will be given to Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Education Minister, for action and if the report should be made public.
“There are two matters that we are focussing on. First, how the incident could have happened, and two, what actions to take to prevent a recurrence,” he told reporters after chairing the first meeting of the special committee looking into the bridge collapse at the Perak Education Department here today.
He said the investigation committee was also made up of the Perak Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology Committee chairman, Mohd Zahir Abdul Khalid; the Perak Public Works Department director, Datuk Dr Safry Kamal Ahmad; Kampar police district chief, Supt Abdul Aziz Salleh; and three ministry representatives.
When asked by reporters, Alimuddin declined to reveal the name of the donor of the bridge and the contractor that built it on the grounds that the investigation was confidential and that the contractor had agreed to meet the committee in Kuala Lumpur.
In the tragedy at the Kinta Selatan District Education Department (DED) Co-Curriculum Centre at Kuala Dipang, N. Dina Dewe Nathan, 11; Diryasree Vasudevan, 12; and Davadharshini Maheswaran, 11, drowned when the bridge collapsed at 10.30pm. It was built just about a month ago.
The three pupils were among 298 others from 64 primary schools from Tronoh, Batu Gajah and Kampar who participated in a 1Malaysia Camp activity at the centre. – Bernama

In the TBH inquiry, we have the judiciary requiring days to make a simple straight forward decision to exhume the body to find the truth when the most affected party (the victim's family) had consented.
If the intention is to find the truth such reports and decisions should be straight forward. 52 years of abuse and corruption should not be allowed to continue.
