PENANG, Nov 6 — Former Perlis mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin wants the Syarie Lawyers Association of Malaysia (PGSM) to fulfil its promise to retract the accusations against him by making a public apology.
Mohd Asri, who had a meeting with the association yesterday, said the association had agreed to retract the accusations and also to make a public apology.
"This has been agreed in a draft signed by PGSM and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom as a witness," he told reporters at a function last night to clarify his arrest by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais).
Mohd Asri was detained by Jais recently for allegedly conducting a religious class without a certification of authority.
Mohd Asri said he would regard the matter settled if PGSM retracted the accusations made against him and made a public apology. — Bernama
