Search continues for man who disappeared in river

PASIR PUTEH, Nov 7 – A search and rescue team is scouring the Kampung Banggol Kerian river to locate a man who disappeared after he went swimming last night.

Villagers saw Mohd Mazlan Yajid diving into the river from the Tok Bali Bridge when he was swept away by strong currents.

As at press time, there has been no sign of the 28-year-old although the water level has subsided and the weather improved.

Pasir Puteh fire and rescue department officer Kaharuddin Yahya said today, the search team comprised villagers, 40 firemen, policemen and Drainage and Irrigation Department personnel. – Bernama
