Khalid tells BN to clean up own house first

SHAH ALAM, Nov 9 — The Selangor mentri besar today told Barisan Nasional (BN) to clean up its own house before accusing his administration of being weak in handling issues such as the cow head protest.

Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was responding to a question in the state assembly by MCA lawmaker Yap Ee Wah who asked if the incident had jeopardised foreign investment and the creation of jobs.

On Aug 30, about 50 Malay-Muslim protestors marched to the State Secretariat here after Friday prayers and desecrated a cow’s head to demonstrate their intolerance over plans to relocate a 150-year-old temple to Section 23.

Khalid (picture) said today that most of the individuals were Umno members but declined to elaborate because the case was pending in court.

So far, six people have been charged for sedition and illegal assembly while another six have been charged just for illegal assembly.

However, he described the questioned by Yap as “strange” because he said everyone knew who was responsible.

Those involved were immature and not interested in promoting harmony, said Khalid.

He also pointed out that his administration was solving an “old problem” which had existed long before Pakatan Rakyat (PR) took over the state government.

As for the foreign investors, Khalid said they were aware of the transparent and open manner in which the state government handled all issues.

He said the state government wanted to be fair and had met all the residents of Section 23.
