PAS probe not about personality conflicts, says Shah Alam MP

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad admitted today he has never always seen eye to eye with Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Hasan Ali but an ongoing party probe is not about their personality conflicts.

The party’s disciplinary committee has issued show-cause letters to several Selangor leaders over allegations that some have disparaged the Pakatan Rakyat government in Selangor and senior PAS leaders.

“It is not a question of the problem between me and him. The investigation on PAS Selangor is not about the problem between me and Hasan Ali. It is an investigation on something more important than me and Hasan Ali,” Khalid said in parliament today.

He also added that difference of opinion is a normal matter and is healthy for the party.

“We do have differences on various issues but for PAS that is something normal. Difference in opinion is a normal matter.

“This is something healthy and should not be a problem but to say that I agree with him in everything would be a lie,” Khalid said.

He stressed that the on-going investigation is an internal matter and the findings will be revealed soon.

“I think the leadership has worded it very clearly by the disciplinary committee that action will be taken on PAS Selangor. The reason why it is said in that manner because it is an internal matter and there is any necessity to expose who are the individuals involved,” he added.

PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had wanted a special muktamar to rid the party of leaders whom he described as “problematic” and seen to favour working closely with Umno instead of strengthening Pakatan Rakyat.

He had named Hasan along with party deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa and secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Alias those who had made the party look inconsistent.

But PAS central committee members decided not to call for a special muktamar as demanded by Nik Aziz and ordered the disciplinary committee to investigate into the various allegations directed at Selangor PAS.

The disciplinary committee would present its findings in a report and the next course of action against PAS Selangor will be decided by the party’s central committee.
