Khalid: Hazardous Map report will take time

By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal

SHAH ALAM, Dec 8 — Following the release of the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide report, the Selangor mentri besar said the Hazardous Map which identifies landslide prone areas in Hulu Klang will not be released so soon.

“I need time to discuss with MPAJ (Ampang Jaya Municipal) council on how to tackle the dissemination of information.

“I do not want, by releasing certain information, to create any crisis or speculation,” explained Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

He added that the report was based on a physical study on landslide prone areas in Hulu Klang.

“It is better to understand the problem and the issue rather than sweep it under the carpet.”

Prior to this, PKR Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin had pushed to declassify the Hazardous Map in Parliament.

However, Selangor exco member Ronnie Liu, who heads the local housing and development portfolio declared that the state was not supporting Zuraida’s bid, and instead would be setting up a “task force” to work with local councils to maintain hillslope developments in landslide hotspots.
