Malaysia grew in spite of Mahathir, not because of him. Twenty seven years ago, Malaysia was on par with Singapore, ahead of Taiwan, about the same as South Korea. Malaysia was way ahead of Thailand / Phillipines and Indonesia.

In the years of mahathir, malaysia grew, but well behind Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea. Thailand is now slowly catching up and would have caught up if not for the "Democrats and the army" We have to thank them for slowing Thailand down.

Malaysia's per capital is less than 50% of S'pore , S. Korea or Taiwan ...what happened? With all the accolades showered on Mahathir, one would think that Malaysia would at least be on par with the three countries or maybe just a little behind.

No one can hide the truth. I guess the book will be a best seller in Singapore. Maybe Wain should send TDM a complimentary copy. As usual Utusan is going to scream bloody hell.

...give me one good reason to read this book! i'm certainly not going to be nostalgic about what he has done. for one thing i have no desire to relive the 22 years of this man's puppeteering and whatnot.

Don't worry Mr Wain, as long as its the truth, the old man is expected to run amok deriding you! LOL!

malaysia under mahathir, the fact is,

1. NO freedom of speech !!
2. ISA !!
3. OSA !!
4. Cronies !!
5. Corruption
6. Racist
7. Dictator
8. Rich get richer, poor get poorer
9. Oppressed of minority group
and of course, 10. Development

According to Wain criticised in his book that :
(a) Dr M had undermined state institutions, permitted the spread of corruptions
(b) Malaysia had squandered an estimated RM100 billion on financial scandals under the 22-year rule
of Dr M.
(c) Dr M had intervened and controlled the judiciary, making the judiciary to serve him
(d) Dr M weakened the country, practised cronyism, pursued huge construction projects, undermined
the monarchy and destroyed his successors.
SO, Dr. Mahathir, these are VERY serious matters and being printed as A BOOK in black and white.
If you think any of these accusations is wrong, please prove youself in court against Wain as stated.

The book will obviously be banned in Malaysia just as the FEER which highlighted issues regarding TDM was many years ago. As someone who insists he has never made any mistakes, TDM will probably shoot down everything that has been written by Wain. TDM is one mean shooter, when it comes to shooting others.

It took TDM 22 years to demolish all that was good about Malaysia.

And the conniver is still at his job, doing his best to keep Malaysia down.

Let me give you an example of Mahathir's economic misdeed. He set up Proton and from then on Malaysians had to pay artificially high prices for shoddily built cars. Car instalments now burden the middle class with cars a necessity with the abysmal public transport. After 24 years Proton still cannot give Malaysians decent cars at world market prices and we are still paying artificial prices for cars just to support Proton.

This is one, just one of Mahathir follies. I could write a book on the rest.

Yes, Malaysia grew despite Mahathir, thanks to the foundation laid by our first 3 Prime Ministers.
If you put a monkey in place of Mahathir during his years, Malaysia would still grow and everybody would be proficient in English and there would be muhhibah in our society and there would be no ketuanan beruk.
Granted, the monkey might not give us proton sagas and all those mega-crony projects but the monkey also won't read angan-angan Mat Jenin and be the harbinger of our present doom.

I wish to amend your item 10 to Very Small Development, the reasons are:
Our Capital Income was the same as Singapore / Japan and 2 times higher than Taiwan / South Korea 30 year ago. However, today's Japan and Singapore are 4 and 3 times respectively higher than us. The Taiwanese and South Korean are easily 2 to 3 times much better than us in term of GNP per Head. We are slightly better than Indonesia and the Philippines, and this is the main reason why we do have a lot of domestic maids / helps from these two countries. As such, we need to act now, otherwise we may have to export our maids to overseas in some years later…..

I wish also to add more items as follows:

11. Created Multi-Billionaires for Own Children
The son Mr Mirzan is top 22 nd rich-man in Malaysia. All other sons and lone
daughter are very very rich also. Creating the Malaysian History….TDM should
write A BOOK to teach us how to be rich like his own siblings……

12. Destroying Education System
TDM changed the language of instruction in schools from English to BM in 1976
during his tenure as Education Minister. My goodness, TDM needs almost 30 years
to realize this was a wrong and folly policy, then he partially changed to English
again in 2003 but changed back again to BM now. If one generation of educational
cycle takes 15 years. This means TDM has destroyed at least 2 generation of our
beloved youths. WHAT the wastes and folles TDM…

Please F! can you explain what is our culture and ways of doing things you are portraying here.

Honestly, we don't need a book written by someone to remind us of TDM's failures, I mean so many miserable failures! We ALL know that TDM thrived on criticising others, giving causic remarks on others, accused good people of nothing just to save himself during his tenure in office.

On second thought, a book detailing his failures and his autocratic way to impoverise Malaysia will serve a REMINDERS of the man's greed and blunders, so that we the rakyat can avoid similar leaders in the future. The rakyat have paid dearly for putting in office.

Yet, out of office the grand old man still spews poision into the minds of the people, who still believe in his twisted facts and pure lies.

This Barry wain can make more money somewhere else and i would suggest him write strings of story in Australia, UK not to mention in the US. Go and write about world bank/IMF and how they operate. i can help him with research and material. These story on the above issues is more important to the world and humanity. please use your expertise in a more meaningful way.

I have not read the book and i don't wish to even look this book. you have no business and authority as you are just a mere journalist with your journalistic license. you can fool and excite some malaysian but majority i would say that you have no business here.
