KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 — Former deputy inspector-general of police (IGP) Mohd Sedek Ali, who fell into a coma following a road accident on Sept 1 last year, died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital today. He was 60.
Bukit Aman public relations officer Supt Rasdi Ramli said Mohd Sedek, who had severe brain injury, died in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Neurology Department at about 7.30am.
He said Mohd Sedek’s body would be taken to Masjid Bukit Aman for prayers and then to his house in Taman Mesra Tambahan Kajang.
He will be buried at the Kajang Muslim cemetery after the Friday prayers.
In the accident, Mohd Sedek sustained serious head injuries after the car that he was driving skidded, hit a road divider and collided with another car near a petrol station at KM17 of the Grand Saga highway.
He was appointed deputy IGP on Jan 13, 2004, and retired about a year later. — Bernama
