KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 — Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (picture) said the desecration of two mosques earlier today appeared to be aimed at sparking racial and religious strife.
“I ask everybody to evaluate the situation themselves and give us space to find the perpetrators because I suspect that the purpose of the action is meant to bring chaos to the country. They want clashes between people of different races and religions,” he said.
He asked the public to be patient as the authorities started probing the incidents which followed arson and vandalism attacks on churches in recent weeks.
Hishammuddin said that the police will not compromise on the attacks and promised those responsible for leaving pig heads at two mosques would be caught.
“I am very angry that this incident happened and I will never compromise as you could see with the actions taken against those involved in the church attacks.
“I have ordered the IGP to the mosque to monitor the situation. We will find them and ensure that they will be captured.
“I want everybody to be patient and not listen to any rumours,” he told reporters at the Home Ministry here.
He added that Malaysians are “peace loving people” and would not condone such acts.
Pig heads were reported to be found at two mosques near here this morning, just days after the fire-bombing attacks and acts of vandalism against churches and a Sikh temple had taken place in the wake of the “Allah” controversy.
The two mosques are the Masjid Jumhuriyah in Taman Dato Harun and the Al- Imam Tirmizi mosque at Taman Sri Sentosa.
These latest acts could be construed as attempts to escalate tensions and provoke unrest between Muslims and non-Muslims as pigs are considered unhygienic in Islam and therefore their presence in the mosques is an act of desecration.
Hishammuddin said that the mosque incidents appeared aimed at inciting racial sentiments.
“I hope the people will give us the time to do the investigation because we have shown that we will not compromise on this matter.

t is really strange for the perpetrator to use wild boar heads, they are not exactly commonly available items. A farm pig would be more easily obtained by a non-muslim.
And a wild boar head would be available to every race, there were recent wild boar culling exercises at some places.

All Malaysians should take a leaf from DAP - condemned these cowardly acts of mindless people descecrating the mosques.

Hishamuddin , you are right about that. My forecast is the people involved are from your own party.
Start by looking there first. I don't think any right minded Malaysian would do such a thing but UMNO's strategy to win has always been and will always be a strategy to invoke racial clashes and inciting racial hatreds among Malaysians.
Without that, you know you cannot win..... I guess the truth is finally out about what happened during UMNO's strategy retreat last year when top guns from UMNO met. Your strategy is to invoke racial clashes.

I fully agree that the perpetrators of this act must be severely punished. It is without a doubt that they are tryng to create chaos in the country among the different races. The spark that Botak ignited is now potentially a spreading wild fire if not brought under control by the self confessed under-staffed men in blue. Botak should be reprimanded and investigated for arson and held fully responsible if the country burns in racial and religious chaos. As a christian I am deeply saddened and horrified that something like this could happen to 2 mosques! I agree with our Home Minister that this happened because it is aimed at creating chaos. PDRM please catch these culprits!

Agreed with chin. So obvious that it is not convenient for a Muslim to procure a pig's head, while wild boars can be obtained. On the contrary, to a non-Muslim, it is so much easier to buy pig's heads which are available at most wet markets. Why would one go to the trouble of getting a boar's head when a pig's head would be cheaper and easier to get, and less noticeable as well...

It is high time some of you who are passing stupid remarks not relating to this stopped. These incidents are getting serious and can be a Time Bomb which can explode anytime. These are definitely actions by same Devious Group who is out to create unrest in the country. When they could not get violence from the arsons of the churches now they are turning to the Mosque and who knows they may also escalate to the Hindus and Buddhist temples to achieve their aims. I am sure the police is doing their best and I hope that they would arrest these perpetrators soon.

I really think this is the work of foreign Al-Qaeda led Islamist fanatics - trying to cause hatred and chaos amongst different culture, like in Kenya, Nigeria, Iraq, Kashmir/India and Pakistan right now. Let us not cry over spilled milk. Any actions or utterances by anyone that could be inflammatory must be stopped fairly and firmly. We can continue to argue till the cows come home and we will still not reach any resolution. Respect for the judiciary must be accorded and the laws of the country which take precedence over all other laws must be allowed to run its course. Remedies are provided for those who feel aggrieved by court decisions which are not to their expectation. Use them as they do in all civil societies.

I totally agreed with Katharina Sri opinion. Why use wild boar heads and not the normal local pig's head we use to find them in non-halal market ?? Something is very strange here. I can guarantee the Indian , Sikhs,Sabahans, Sarawakian,& Chinese will never commit such a pariah acts because we respect the Malays Muslim & their religion Islam .Our harmony records shows.
