PENANG, Feb 3 — Penang PKR will not be affected if one or two party members decide to leave the party, said its liaison chairman Mansor Othman.
Mansor, who is also Deputy Chief Minister I, said: “We will not cry just because two members are leaving the party,” he told reporters here today.
He was commenting on news reports that some PKR members were in the midst of leaving the party, especially in Penang, due the coalition’s leadership crisis.
On the call by Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng for PKR to push for DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to be replaced as Penang Chief Minister, Mansor said it was not the party’s stand to replace the Penang leader.
“The current rift in the party is due to one or two members who had only joined the party in recent years,” he said.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s chief of staff Jeff Ooi admitted that there were differences in opinions during the state administration’s decision-making meetings.
“We were free to talk and although we had conflicting views, there were no hard feelings after each decision was made,” he said.
Ooi also said it was untrue that some state executive councillors including Phee Boon Poh and Law Heng Kiang were also having problems with Lim as claimed by former DAP long-time member Tham Weng Fatt.
“We are very focused on running an administration based on competency, accountability and transparency (CAT) in Penang and so far, we have been progressing well and there’s not much problem between us,” he said.
A Malay daily today reported Tham’s claim of a rift between Lim and some state exco members including Phee and Law, and Ooi and that it was getting worse. — Bernama
