Sabah police confirm report lodged over offensive article

September 12, 2012

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 12 — Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib today confirmed that police had received a report on a racially-charged article posted on a blog.

“We are studying the report and if necessary will refer it to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action,” he told reporters at a police Aidilfitri gathering here today.

Hamza said the police and MCMC would monitor social networks including blogs that could potentially threaten peace and unity in the country.

Meanwhile, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) lodged a police report against an article in a blog, “Suara Pakatan Rakyat”, posted on September 11, 2012 at 12.05pm which allegedly insulted and incited hatred for the Kadazandusun dan Murut communities in Sabah.

The report lodged through party secretary-general Datuk Henrynus Amin at the Penampang police station near here this afternoon urged police to investigate the blog which labelled Kadazandusuns and Muruts as stupid, immoral, backward, uncivilised, insignificant and not worthy of respect. — Bernama
