KUCHING, Nov 20 — Star Publications (M) Sdn Bhd (The Star) will publish a Sarawak edition of The Star, by the second quarter of next year, giving prominent news coverage on events and daily happening in the state.
The Star executive deputy chairman Datuk Clement Hii said once operational, the Sarawak edition will hit the newstands as early as 6am, while being priced cheaper.
“Sarawakians will get the newspaper even earlier than our readers in Johor,” he said at the contract signing ceremony for the printing of the Sarawak edition between The Star and United Borneo Press Printing (UBPP) Sdn Bhd here today.
The contract was sealed by Hii and UBPP executive chairman Datuk Ling Chiong Ho and the signing cermony witnessed by Kuching City South Mayor, James Chan Khay Syn.
Hii also said in view of the huge potential of the East Malaysian market, The Star is working towards launching its Sabah edition soon.
Meanwhile, The Star in a statement said, apart from a team of journalists and photographers, the Sarawak edition will have its own advertising team. - Bernama
