KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — Sure, there are still many questions surrounding the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.
But they were not answered by a story which appeared in the centre-left French newspaper Liberation today
The article repeats a series of allegations that have been circulating for some time on the Internet.
These allegations have remained just that — allegations.
No evidence has been provided to show Datuk Seri Najib Razak was in any way linked to the murder.
The Liberation mentions the existence of a photograph which purportedly shows Najib, Altantuya and her lover Abdul Razak Baginda in a Paris nightclub.
But the newspaper does not publish the said photograph.
The newspaper also makes a series of allegations about Abdul Razak’s alleged involvement as an intermediary in arms deals for Najib.
Huge commissions are mentioned. However, no documents are cited to substantiate the story.
“Najib has already responded to these allegations. He has sworn on the Quran that he has never met her. What else can he do?” an aide to the deputy prime minister told The Malaysian Insider.
The aide said the article seemed to be part of a concerted effort to smear Najib as he prepares to take office as Malaysia’s sixth prime minister.
It is hard not to agree with the aide.
While there are many Malaysians who would love to believe these allegations against Najib are true, the fact remains that no concrete evidence has been produced.
If there is indeed evidence of any wrongdoing, then sure, the deputy prime minister deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Still, the public do deserve some answers. There are reasons why Malaysians find it easy to believe such allegations against Najib.
Abdul Razak, who was acquitted of abetment in the murder, was indeed a close associate of Najib.
The two men facing a death sentence if they are found guilty of murdering the Mongolian apparently took instructions from DSP Musa Safri, Najib’s former aide-de-camp.
But a hatchet job on Najib now without any clear evidence brings nothing fresh to the table for Malaysians.

There is a lot more Najib can do to prove his innocence. For a start, why is DSP Musa Safri not put on the stand?
You yourself mention that the 2 policemen apparently took instruction from the DSP. If the prosecution is really interested to find out who ordered the murder, then why did they not put the DSP on the stand? The public can not be blamed for drawing their own conclusions when no attempt has been made to identify the culprit....the one with the motive.

Yes, there are not sufficient evidence to link Najib to the murder yet. Is that not because the Police had not tried hard enough? There has been so many instances of one Musa Safri being mentioned in the case, why has he not been investigated by the Police or brought in as an accused? Surely the most basic question to ask about the murder is what was the reason for the two accused to commit the murder? Unfortunately, there is no satisfactory answer to that.

Leslie Lau, you oversimplify the issue. Actually there is something fresh to the table. These allegations are now going to be internationally known. If Najib stays quiet or says he's already sworn that he doesn't know Altantuya, it counts for nothing on the international platform. If he wants to be innocent, he needs to sue the French paper in a French or international court (not in a Malaysian kangaroo court), and then let's see all the evidence come out. Also, it is not that Malaysians want to believe or not to believe that he is involved, but why the need to hide from an appearance in court, and why all the suspicious circumstances involving Razak Baginda's acquittal and release? As they say, there is no smoke without fire.
Why want to portray the fellow as a victim of a smear campaign? The thing is: ask yourself first, did Malaysia's first 5 PMs open themselves to such scandals? As such there is no one to blame except himself.

Altantuya is haunting Najib from her grave. Fellows dont give up hope that the photo might not see daylight ever. A question which has crossed my mind is that if that photo linking Najib to Altanntuya exists, why is it not published by the foreign media and circulating all over the Internet?
I'm no Najib lover or supporter but from a dispassionate perspective, the fact that it is not all over the Internet suggests that that supposed photo does not exist.
If it exists in print in Malaysia, what's so difficult to scan it and post it to someone outside Malaysia to send to the foreign media and bloggers.
Also, pretty as she may be, Altantuya was no angel in this sordid episode.

No Evidence? Yes, No evidence!
So I should believe Najib is clean after all, but my "ABC" tell me, if you say "A" and the next is "B" and another is 'C".
A) Altantuya is close to Razak Baginda? YES!
B) Razak baginda is close to Najib? YES!
C) Najib should know Altantuya through Razak bagina? Yes and No, or Maybe! but it should be!
D) Why was Altantuya murdered?
1) She was a criminal? No or I Dont know!
2) She was a spy? I Dont know!
3) She shoot and killed herself with a bomb? Unbelievable!
Conclusion? I Still want to know why she was murdered! what was the motive? Why were Razak baginda and Najib never called to testify in the court when they know every people was thinking they were involved?
Because of this puzzle, I still believe that Najib know Altantuya after all.

I am not against or for who is right or wrong but without fiscal evidence we should'nt link it together.
However simple logic can let you know who might be involved,
1. why the special police force (body guard) link to this murder? why not ordinary policemen? who is the superior, was he question? who this superior is answerable to? MY kid who doesn't study law also ask the same questions, wandering what the judges and lawyer is doing in the court?
2. can you please tell me where in malaysia you can get free C4 even to the extent able to discard the remaining away, even a toy gun sometime it is so difficult to get not to mention about C4.
3. This is what we call play real stupidity and expect the citizen not to rumour about it.
4.Lattest ban by the stupid ministry of home affair for the 3 by-election, the malay saying SIAPA MAKAN CILI SIAPA RASA PEDAS.
