Just a thought, but...

Considering that there are still quite a number of poor families in Malaysia that would benefit from having jobs, why aren't there any agencies that will help locals find such jobs?

If I could hire a Malaysian maid, I think I would - better to help our own countrymen / women, I say.

China maids will probably demand higher pay than Filipinas. So only wealthier families can afford to hire them, therefore a relatively small number will come from China as most middle-income families can only afford Cambodian or Burmese maids.

So, what's the big problem?

Wanita MCA should also look at the perspective of these maids maybe marrying local Chinese men who can't seem to score at the MCA Cupid Club - because, you know, the men ain't all that stylish and happening - and local women these days are more discerning in their choices (as they should be) - thus producing more chinese babies to boost the dwindling population. Thus, also eliminating the problem of mail-order brides from Vietnam!

Everybody wins what.. except for the poor Indons who now see their flow of foreign currency stop due to their misplaced ego but who cares, I'm sure they can eat their pride for supper.

for mere rm 600 or even rm800 a month ..be reminded in china there are plentiful of jobs and its home ground....the malaysian woman mentality is that these chinese are husband snatchers is utterly silly! of course. if yr wife continue to be piggy....and snore! some of them when seated,,u cant even see the seat of the chair...it doesnt need a chinese maid to be naughty..there are plentiful out there,,alot of joints and ready made malaysia one night stand..

Ringgit 600 for a chinese maids?? I wonder any of them could have think twice to come. Most likely they will come in and end up as working girls instead. My point is that the devaluation and appreciation of ringgit and Chinese yuan does not match any longer the needs as few years ago. Come forward another few years, M'sian cannot afford to employ Chinese maids at all; with the future exchange rate.
The local current market running rate to employ a maid at any 1st tier Chinese cities are far higher than merely CNY1200 (RM600). Furthermore, they would happy to be employed in HK, Macao or Singapore. Sorry, MCA/BN...you guys are still "dreaming" and far off from real globe economies. The real issue is UMNO/BN has ruled this country to "south" rather "north" direction.

Wanita MCA just wants to gain political mileage without using its BRAIN! since MCA lost miserably on 308, it is trying every means to restore and regain popularity, to the extent of unscrupulously undermining the image of Malaysian men and women - like in this case...Wanita MCA treats Malaysian men like whole bunch of fella succumbing to lust and Malaysian women like whole bunch of "aunties" with no confidence in themselves and no trust at all in their husbands!! Really SHAME on MCA!

Such irresponsible acts by MCA should be reprimanded!! To hell with MCA...only barking and claiming credit on trivial matters!! if you are good please focus on more important social issues (like public security, the rampant snatch thieves cases, misuse of power by police), economic issues (PKFZ scandals committed by some MCA fella...), public interest (the collapsed stadium in Terengganu), Health issues (potential Bukit Koman environmental issues caused by the use of cyanide in the gold production etc)

Hire them at your own risk. They are good and they can be all rounder. Good luck to all husbands.

Maids should be paid at least RM1,500.00. Hire if you can afford or else, do it yourself. Cannot afford, don't be lazy.

You cant get chinese maids for RM600 to RM800. Whoever wants to get a chinese maid would have to pay upwards of RM1000++. China's economy is still growing while the whole world flounders. Once the Yuan is freely traded you can betcha bottom dollar its gonna shoot right up. Then it will be even more expensive to have a chinese maid. Dont talk nonsense like our country is the land of milk and honey. If you have been around the world it will sober you to realise that we are NOT the centre of the world and that not everyone wants to come here to work.

I think Wanita MCA & some of the comments which against maids fr China got it all wrong.., The reason why all those cases of china girl seducing m'sian men is due to we currently do not allow china maids., all those cases are actually china masseurs, karaoke girls or hookers coming here to make BIG MONEY., more like RM600 per day rather than RM600 per month.., so dont ever expect those to work as maids.., If our govt allows maid from China., it will attract a totally different kind of China lady to come work as maids.., maybe ur hubbies may not keen to be seduced by those kinds.., totally different kind of treatment will be expected from them.., so no worries., be happy..,

Some of the China maids will run away and become illegal just like the Indonesian maids. Not sure whether they can obtain blue Malaysian IC.

With all due respect, I consider many aspects of the author's arguments and many of the comments naive and superficial. I do appreciate the fears of Wanita MCA and Malaysian wives but most of these fears are probably unfounded if a planned programme of engaging Chinese maids is implemented. Leave aside the politics, leave out the hysteria and go into the reality of the situation. The issues maybe myriad and complicated but they are not unsurmountable.

The truth about Malaysian Chinese men's infidelity is anyone's guess. If he is unfaithful now, he would be unfaithful anyway, whether the object of his extra-marital affection is a Chinese maid or GRO or a local woman. But I would hasten to add that his opportunities to be unfaithful would be boosted tremendously if we talk about tens of thousands of young Chinese maids working in Malaysia households. Sharing a common language and culture just makes it so much easy for things to go wrong than, say, in the case of Indonesian maids. A lot, of course, depends on the conjugal relationship between husband and wife and a lot of wives do not want this tested by the interposing presence of a potential competitor for her husband's affection.

Also, I think Malaysian men would be the seduced rather than the seducer. I am not saying all Chinese women leaving the Chinese mainland are immoral. But, newspaper reports tell us that they usually end up in not so desirable jobs. That is to be expected if they cannot or hardly speak English or Malay and have no suitable academic qualifications and skills.

I have male relatives who married or courted women from China and they tell me that Chinese women come to Malaysia mainly to make a living, not to find husbands or boyfriends. There is still a lot of hardship in China. It is a huge country and it is a mere generalization that wages have gone up and are on par or above the prevailing Malaysian wages. Prosperity is mainly confined to the big and medium-sized cities and urban areas. There are massive pockets of poverty in the rural areas and outlying provinces and we are talking about many millions of people. Average wages for lowly educated and unskilled women are commonly just RM300 per month. So, it does make sense for them to take up jobs as maids in Malaysia.

My personal observation is that the rural Chinese women, generally, still have their traditional family values intact and are more conservative. They would, generally, make better maids in the Malaysian context. The problem is, probably, how to pick the grain from the chaff, the grain being the woman who would be more acceptable, all things considered.

Perhaps, I could hazard a couple of suggestions if, eventually, Chinese maids in Malaysia is to become a reality. Remember, our local Chinese amahs of long ago? They were one special breed of women who practically ran the whole household without causing a ripple in the placid waters of the matrimonial home. They were usually modest, humble and reaching middle age after having raised their own families. Set an age criterion of, say, a minimum age 45 for qualifying maids. Of course, there would be women who would still be ravishing beauties at 45 but, I suppose that would be a rarity!

Restrict applicants to rural and specified provinces of China. Have proper screening. Also, I suppose, given the minimum wage of RM600, you would by and large attract the right type of women and not those who would rather make an easier living plying their favours in massage parlours, KTV lounges and private clubs.

Again, there would still be the detractors who would say that Chinese maids still present a risk to their matrimonial happiness. I would say to them: if the critical mass of employable, acceptable, risk-free maids is achieved, are the exceptions worth worrying about? Aren't there already exceptions with regard to Indonesian and Filipino maids?

Have they done a research to support thier hypotheses, china dolls are wrecking families in malaysia?? how many, is it at an alarming rate? If so, then you women, please learn how to take 'Good" care of your husbands lah. men will always be men, they ll fall for any race of women. just ask any man and you'll get the YES answer lah. no need only china dolls, indonesian, filipina also got lah...

if you dont want to take becos you scared of your husband's 'wolf' instinct, then just dont take lah BUT please dont stop others, who may be in dire need of a maid. be considerate lah..

I am told, some maids from Indonesia, Filipina, Myanmar...had experienced all sorts of sexually harrassment from the husbands/fathers from time to time. These are only "average" looking maids, mind you.

If we were to import the good-looking, fresh flesh Chinese maids, the sexual harrassment will surely multiply.

I don't think it is a question of whether or the wives, such as DS Dr, Ng Yen Yen, have no confidence in themselves. Prevention is better that rehabilitation.

UNLESS -- we are considering the import of AMAH ( 45-60 years old) from China!

has anyone thought of the possibility of training and hiring bumiputra maids from the states of sabah and sarawak? once the government enforces the minimum pay, surely the people will be keen to work as maids. afterall, all of us are country folks, common lingua franca, and cultures practiced by everyone is known and understood by all and sundry. with high pay, there will be people willing to work as maids thus reducing unemployment, and also, it will naturally deprive the foreigners of the chance to step in.

If MCA women like Ng Yen Yen, MF Chew (she is still a single lady) etc. is losing their husbands to Chinese maids, I sincerely suggest Ng Yen Yen working as a maid for me and let the Chinese maids as our ministers. This is Darwin's natural selection, only stronger and better species survives in this world.

Women like Ng Yen Yen is preventing other people for hiring Chinese maids, these MCA old women are not just selfish, they are also violating our freedom of employing anyone as our maids or helpers.

A big NO to Chinese maids fr China. We have seen enough wrecked homes from the big towns right up to the villages where these girls have plied their trade. Putting these girls (especially the young, pretty & ambitious ones) into Malaysian Chinese homes is like putting a fish in from of a horny tom cat!

I have seen these girls in the Bangkok Chinatown where they will readily sit and chat with any available single man in the restaurant.

I have personally know of many local businessmen who are keeping these girls as mistresses. Don't believe, then just visit any coffee-shops, pubs, karaoke lounges (and even at the genting casino) where there are many Chinese men around.

This tactic has been practised by local housewives long time ago. I complained almost all indon maids employed by my friends are ugly, my friends admitted privately to me that their wives made the hard choose for them.

I'll hire Pakistan woman as maid if Pakistan government allows them to work in overseas. Only XinJiang girls from China can match them. :-)

Unlike you need any data, these narrow-minded and ugly MCA women will lose their husbands to any young girls from any countries IF beauty is only factor in maintaining their marriage relationship.

MCA wanita is like UMNO who always blame others for their own problem. There are Chinese girls coming in as tourists and end up as prostitute in the massage parlour, foodcourt, etc.

let's look at what's happening around us. these are hard facts :-
1. it is not the 'meagre' money. btw, those who have travelled around would know RM600 is a lot of money to the chinese !
2. those who would come is not coming for the menial job only in mind. they come for opportunities and the easiest way is to marry and get another passport as a stepping stone.

The advantage of bringing in maids from China far outweighs the disadvantage. Banning is not the answer. Let there be a choice. No one is forcing anyone to hire those from China, and we ought to allow those that choose to hire them. So if you do not your husbands to seduce or be seduced, don't hire them. It's as simple as that. Making it a big issue is telling the whole world that Malaysian husbands are not very trustworthy.

Wanita MCA must also ban Malaysians to do business in China. Since the Chinese maids could pose so much problems if they are allowed to come here, we shouldn't even let our men work or do business in China lest they won't come back.... did I read you correctly Wanita MCA?

Frankly ALL of us need to stop deluding ourselves about having maids in the home...if the women (not talking about single mothers who have to work) would only take up their place in the home and become the home maker & future generation shapers as God has called them to be we will not have this debate of maids at all!! Couple of principles are clearly laid out :
* LIVE within your means - hence no gains in the long run for the women to have gone to work and have the children raised by the maid! There are so many cases where the women are away on a business trip and he maid then becomes the home maker.
* You fulfill your greatest purpose first by being a mother and wife.. all else are secondary!
* Full time motherhood is divine and highest honor you can give your children.
* Children want their mothers to be home & do not want to be subjected to a maid running the show.
* women & men - BE WISE...DONT kid yourself into thinking that having another woman (who can be potentially the age of your wife or below) in and around the house WOULD NOT have any impact on the overall dynamics of the home life...it DOES...and unneccesary temptations are introduced into the home..
* Men - can be tempted, more so if the maid has a mind set of wanting to have the affections of the man, after all they are human too - having to sacrifice their physical needs and be away from their husbands...

So lets WAKE UP and get our fundamentals right in managing a home and restoring it to what GOD has intended it to be...men, who may want to voice out against this message, let me ask you..are you prepared to have a male maid, who is young & attactive with a good phyiscal endowment hanging around the house all the time?? Will you be comfortable to leave the wife and go for a business trip?? I am not talking about trust here...its all about realising how fallible we can all be if we naively allow situations and circumstances to induce parameters that we cannot control into the family life.
Men who want their wives to work - SHAME on you!..its about time you took up you position as a provider and head of your home...
Women who want to work because their career`s are so important - SHAME on you too as you have missed the fundamental beauty and innate honor of being a FULL time mother.

If a husband goes for sex with a maid then it is not the race, it is the relationship! How many woman get fat after their wedding day? Look into the mirror! How many woman start nagging and cursing after their wedding day? How many woman have been fun to be with BEFORE the wedding and change AFTER that day? Judge for yourself and ask yourself... am I still the woman he was falling for or have I become a different person? If you are still the person he fell for, then no swet, but if not, he may have a girlfriend already and the maid is not the one. Mostlikely one of his co-workers.

My American maid speaks perfect English and for that matter I should be able to bring my staff with me as the US Gov allows me to bring my Malaysian/Chinese maid back to the US. As we are getting closer to a global economy what's all the fuss about? Citizens of the world agree there is no place for prejudice manners.
