Firstly, I like many Malaysians of all creeds and colour would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and fiancee of Teoh Beng Hock. This is a very sad incident and should never have happened. Obviously the game plan of the MACC in this investigation was to intimidate Teoh and put him under maximum stress and pressure during questioning. These interrogation techniques held during the wee hours of the morning are despicable, cruel and frankly counterproductive. I am sure the MACC officers like Teoh too would rather have a good night's sleep than have to conduct their investigation at such an un-Godly hour. Obviously their boss thought otherwise. The MACC and other enforcement and security agencies would do well to remember that this is Malaysia and not some failed state with a dictator or military strongman at the top where you can do just about anything you like. The rakyat have rights here.

As for Datuk Nazri Aziz, he should just shut up if he has nothing better or kinder to say in this situation. KJ at least wants to call for a public inquiry into Teoh's death. The MACC must take responsibility and provide answers to the people on this incident.

He should be named the 'Roughest Cabinet Minister 2009' by virtue of his several outspoken unpolished statements that he used to utter both inside/outside the parliament. I feel sad and disgusted when he commented Beng Hock's death as something of his choice! Doesn't he has children? Why can't he put himself in Teoh family's shoe and share their sadness by offering condolences on compassion ground? Our religions teach us this,don't they？

Nazri's definition for 'crooks' is someone who 'harshly criticized the government.' This makes almost every Malaysian crooks because many Malaysians criticize the government on daily basis.

If what has been reported that Nazri commented ' there is no CCTV in MACC as no one expects Teoh will jump down ' is true, this is the most idoitic statement from a cabinet minister who is a lawyer by profession. Disgusting and senseless! This shows he has no feeling towards others at all. A life is taken but the comment came in like a joke! How could he be in the cabinet making major decisions for the country????

Has anyone withnessed the ' jumping '? Those news reporters using the term ' jumping to death ' are equally senseless and irresponsible towards the deceased family, friends and rakyat at large.

Would it be possible that from a scene played out many times in movies that a person undergoing ruthless interrogation being held upside down high up on a building, with the interrogators holding the person by his pants and they didn't realise that this poor man was wearing cheap pants that tear easily and he thus fell or dropped from the window ledge. Afterall, most highrise buildings don't allow their windows to open too widely. So looking at the photos, Teoh's pants were torn at the back, the windows do not open too wide enough for him to accidentally jump out or could he have walked into the hole of the window. Furthermore, interrogation until wee hours in the morning. Why? To hide the interrogation methods? And it is the first time that a govt department or office do not have any CCTV? Too many questions but no answer.

Coming from generation after Merdeka (I am in mid 30s), I must admit that it is very difficult to make my generation and the younger ones understand the real struggle UMNO has gone through to achieve independence. Therefore when UMNO leaders want to talk to them about this, they do not want to listen. Even if they listen, they cannot feel and appreciate the struggle. Their conclusion is, UMNO cannot be so nostalgic about this!

The same thing about the development that UMNO has brought to this country since Merdeka. To them, any other party, if elected to govern this country, is responsible to do that. The only way to win their support to UMNO, they must be convinced that UMNO is the party that is relevant throughout the time (past, present and future) and suitable for all generations (old, not so old and young).

Following are my observations;

1. Young voters are looking at UMNO from different perspectives. They look at the quality of leaders in UMNO, are they clean from corruptions? If not, they want to see what actions are taken by UMNO against these leaders? Sadly, in UMNO currently, even when Lembaga Disiplin has found certain leaders corrupted, they are still allowed to contest and hold their party positions and worse still, allowed to hold high government positions in public office. While UMNO is talking about eliminating corruption, the party itself is being led by a few corrupters! Young voters will never accept this. What UMNO needs to do now is to get rid of these leaders. This will be a useful lesson for future leaders of UMNO to be clean and seen to be clean by members and the public at large. Survival of UMNO does not depend solely on the support of its members but also from non-members who are active voters during election to whom they seek support. The existence of UMNO depends on whether they can win every election.

2. Young voters are disgusted with internal problem and power struggle within UMNO from branch level up to MT level. Being the ruling party, UMNO’s internal problem is always exposed widely in the media and young voters has gradually lost confidence with the party. This has got something to do with our membership. We are proud of having millions of members but logically, having more members does not necessarily mean getting more votes during election. Previously, when UMNO had less members we could still win election after election. What UMNO really need now is quality and effective members. Do not go for numbers but go for quality. With more and more members now, it does encourage more infightings. We have seen many occasions before during election where UMNO members did not vote for UMNO candidates due to coming from different camp. In the end, it was the opposition party who won!

3. Young voters look at UMNO as a party where leaders are fighting to enrich themselves rather than welfare of the people. We have seen many occasions where leaders of UMNO who were ‘nobody’ before, becoming so rich after being given positions by the party. Gradually, they forgot their objectives when given the opportunity to serve the people. Young voters are making comparison in the lifestyle of UMNO leaders and those in the opposition. Again, this will put UMNO at disadvantage!

If UMNO wishes for more votes from young voters, they should tackle above issues first.

to Ngehnga: If you have used yours, you would have realized many of the more serious cases are not investigated, and when it is, no action is usually taken. So why bother or wait before we jump to conclusions, since the investigation, even with appointment of a Royal Comission will probably end up inconclusive. If we have any comment or speculations (which may be true), we might as well make it now.

Congrats Mr.Khoo for being precise and concise. Nobody deserves the title more and very aptly said. Does he not know all the goodwill and PR that the PM is trying to do the last 100days just went down the drain. This clearly shows the BN is still in the state of denial and its business as usual with its arrogant attitude. The least the present government of the day can do is
- immediately set up a RCI
- make the MACC report to Parliament
How can the PDRM be depended upon to conduct an impartial investigation when their integrity and prefessionalism is in question.
Take action now as justice delayed is justice denied.
