JAN 27 — Folks, I haven’t been able to update my blog because I’m in the midst of moving house. I’m surrounded by boxes and workers etc and just don’t have the time to write anything.
But I just saw a tweet of an article on Malaysiakini which says that two pigs’ heads were hurled into two mosques 3 km apart in Jalan Klang Lama, here in KL. (Sorry you need a subscription to see the story and I don’t have one.)
It seems obvious to me that there are some people very unhappy that Malaysians have not started killing each other yet. Instead we are going about our business and getting on with one another as usual. The malls and coffeeshops are full and there are traffic jams as always.
What’s more, we are even organising peace initiatives to promote understanding and harmony among ourselves. Last weekend there were several events in KL including Tali Tenang where more than 200 people tied a long string together to symbolise unity and solidarity and walked through Bangsar putting smiles and cheers on the faces of passersby.
These types of events are making some people very unhappy. I’m not going to speculate why they would want us to be out there rioting but I believe they are trying to up the ante with even more provocative acts until some of us will lose our patience.
We should therefore refuse to bend to their wishes. We should refuse to be played around like this. We want peace and we know that can only be achieved through dialogue and discussion with mutual respect all round.
These people are intent on making war among us for their own reasons. We should demand that the police catch whoever did this with utmost urgency and charge them immediately, as they should the ones they have caught for previous acts of arson on churches and suraus. We should demand to know why they did this and if so, was this their own idea or were they following orders from someone.
All religious authorities of every faith should condemn these acts of violence. These are grave acts which are sinful in every religion and they should all state that clearly.
We have seen what has happened in other countries where religion has been used to create civil war, to over up the real reasons for the nation’s failures. As Malaysians, we should stand united against those who want to pit us against each other.

As reported these were two babi hutan heads and not the domesticated babi heads. Babi hutan are also hunted by malays and if it was a work of a non malay he can easily buy 2 domesticated babi heads but NOT babi hutan heads to do the dirty irresponsible job. Babi hutan are not sold in almost all wet markets. Looks like a staged job to rifle the feelings of Muslims after failing to get the Christians onto the streets. And of all places they chose Kg Medan or thereabouts.

It is not enough to catch the people responsible. The police must exert all efforts to find out the main culprit behind this. I believe that some "big shot" is behind these atrocious acts. I hope that all right thinking Malaysians will REFUSE to be provoked by these evil people.

Eventhough I agree with you, Marina, you have chosen a wrong place for the this comment of yours. You see, educated people who read this site will not simply be fooled by such incidents and become unreasonably emotional but what my greatest fear is people on the street who are not so well educated, not so well exposed to proper information, people who doesn't even think carefully or people whose soul were being bribed, seduced by greed of money, power and other reasons. They are the ones who will be tricked into doing something silly. SO my advise to you is to do more beyond this, send your comments to other influential leaders in the society, spread your message of peace, love and harmony, try to hold many public talks, open speech at public places, through mainstream medias to calm everyone down and explain to rakyat what are the motives behind this attack if you can. Or try to send your comment to Malay newspapers to tell them the truth of this motives. And the best is to convince your dad to come out publicly together with other ex-PM leaders to speak and stand for love, peace & harmony to all Malaysian. That will be great!

His racist policy is the consequence for the happening in Malaysia today. His Apartheid policy gave courage to those present UMNO to be more racist than your dad. He wanted to "re-possess" Malaysia from the non Malay Malaysians by diluting the population with Muslims from Indonesia, Southern Philippines, Bangladesh and other Muslim countries. And now look at what is happening to the country? Corruption and crimes in the country are rampant and many of us, including Malays, mostly well educated professionals, are leaving the country in drove because they've lost hope, esp for their kids future.
Marina, you can do us a big favor if you could ask your dad to keep his racism to himself and I'm sure all those trouble makers wouldn't be so brave. Terima Kaseh!

Marina, really appreciate your efforts in reaching out to as many people as possible to calm the situation as well as sharing information with us on peace rallys. I'd also ask all those who are speculating as to the perpetrators behind all the henious acts to stop their speculations - allow the respective law enforcement agencies to do their jobs. Speculation without facts will just add fuel to the fire, which is the objective of the perpetrators. Remember the majority of Malaysians condemn all these acts, and are peace loving. I really hope these are the actions of a few misguided youth just for the thrill of it. Surely many of us who are beyond their youthful age can relate to this sort of behavior. If these actions are planned by sinister forces out to wreak chaos, then the full weight of the law should be brought down upon them if and when they are caught. This warrants the invoking of the dreaded ISA because it threatens the security of the nation, not to mention the safety of innocent people caught in the crossfires. A few Malausians should not be free to destroy years of nation building in a moment of criminal selfishness.
