LONDON, Oct 27 — Disney-Pixar’s acclaimed “Up” has held on to top spot at the British box office for a third weekend, Screen International said today.
The animated story of a cranky old man on a balloon-powered adventure made another £3.8 million (RM20.52 million) to take its three-week total to £19.6 million.
“Saw VI,” the latest in the long-running horror franchise made its debut in second place with another newcomer, the stop-motion animated version of Roald Dahl’s “Fantastic Mr Fox,” coming in at three.
“Couples Retreat,” the story of four couples trying to heal their relationships at a New Age therapeutic resort, fell two places to fourth.
The latest film to cash in on the vampire craze, “Cirque Du Freak: the Vampire’s Assistant,” was new at five, while director Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus” fell to six from third.
Comedian RickyGervais, as the man who will do anything other than lie to win the woman of his dreams in “The Invention of Lying” fell three places to seven.
Comedy horror movie “Zombieland” was down three spots at eight, with the latest remake of dance school musical “Fame” slipping from six to nine.
Coming back into the chart at No 10, rise of one place, was children’s comedy “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” — Reuters
