SINGAPORE, Nov 12 — The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and league side Kelantan have been fined due to damage caused to the National Stadium during Saturday’s cup final.
The Star reported today that the FAM’s disciplinary board had ordered its Stadium Board to pay RM138,150 for the damage caused by Kelantan fans.
Kelantan, whose fans set fire to plastic seats in the stadium, let off fireworks and threw objects onto the pitch following their side’s 3-1 defeat to rivals Negri Sembilan, were fined RM50,000.
It is not the first time that Kelantan have had been in trouble for their supporters’ behaviour.
They were banned from playing home matches at their Kota Baru stadium in April after repeat disturbances during Negri Sembilan games, including one where the visitors were trapped in their dressing room for two hours as fans ran amok. — Reuters
