KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 – A strong earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit Banda Sea, Indonesia at 10.40pm today.
A statement issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department said that the quake's epicentre was located at 371km southeast of Ambon, Indonesia and 1797km southeast of Tawau, Sabah.
The earthquake posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia, the statement said. – Bernama
