GENEVA, Feb 22 — Luxury Italian car brands Ferrari and Maserati are preparing to launch new models at the Geneva Motor Show next month, it has been confirmed this week.

Ferrari is reportedly gearing up to launch a V12 sports car it describes as ‘extreme’, with many predicting that it will be the successor to the Ferrari 599 Fiorano.

If so, it will be the latest in a series of V12 Gran Tourismo models and could boast around 700 hp, with rear-wheel drive through a seven-speed gearbox.

Ferrari fans will also have the option of the refreshed Ferrari California and a new package, also set to debut at the show.

Maserati, for its part, has been slightly clearer, promising to indulge customers with the GranTurismo Sport, a mid-range model designed to slot in between the base GranTurismo and the premium GranTurismo MC.

It will feature a 4.7-liter V8 engine with 460hp, Maserati said, along with a revised face clearly inspired by the GranTurismo MC, which features new LED headlamps and larger air intakes.

The interior has also been redesigned, with new front and rear seats, Maserati said.

Both models will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, which runs March 8-18 in Switzerland. — AFP/Relaxnews
