Perlis Raja wants Malays to reunite

June 01, 2012

KANGAR, June 1 — The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, has expressed concern over the disunity of the Malays and advised them to reunite.

He said they should look back at the time when their unity was able to foil the Malayan Union and win independence for the country without any bloodshed.

“Lately, the Malays are disunited to the extent that they have forgotten the adage that ‘united we stand, divided we fall’,” he said when opening the Nurul Yaqin Mosque in Kampung Chantek Bangun near here last night.

The Ruler warned that certain quarters were waiting to exploit the disunity of the Malays for their own vested interests. — Bernama
