KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 — PKR today labelled the members of the Malay right-wing group Perkasa who had “attacked” a mosque in Alor Star as “criminals”.

The incident happened at the Al-Hussain mosque last Sunday when Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was giving a sermon (takzirah).

“This was a well-planned, carefully organised criminal assault,” said PKR vice-president N. Surendran (picture).

“Whether it’s a political speech or not is besides the point,”he said.

He was responding to the claims by Perkasa that Anwar was giving a political speech at the mosque.

“You can’t act in a criminal manner just because you’re not happy,” he added.
