Selangor MB invites BN leaders to visit dams
SHAH ALAM, May 23 — Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today invited Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui together with other Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders to visit the dams in the state to prove that the actual water reserve is at a comfortable level.
He said that the visit was to explain the actual situation after several allegations were made earlier which differed from the level of water stored at seven dams which registered reserves of more than 100 per cent to this month.
“The visit will be supervised by the State Water Regulator Datuk Nordin Sulaiman and the Selangor Water Management Board (LUAS),” he said at a press conference after chairing the weekly State Exco meeting, here today.
Khalid (picture) said the seven dams in the state, namely the Sungai Selangor Dam, Sungai Tinggi Dam, Klang Gate Dam, Sungai Langat Dam, Sungai Semenyih Dam, Tasik Subang Dam and Batu Dam reached 100 per cent water reserves.
He said that water resources at the dams in Selangor stood at 522.66 million cubic metres where since last February, all seven dams have been in a satisfactory condition and could supply water to all water treatment plants in the state. — Bernama
