Soldier and student among 4 charged with man’s murder
SEREMBAN, July 26 — Four men, including a soldier and a student, were charged in the High Court here today with the murder of a man in Rembau last year.
All of them pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.
They are contractors Rosman Ali Abdul, 28, and Kamarudin Idrus, 54; soldier Mohamad Asrol Izek Md Aris, 31, from the Sungai Besi camp in Kuala Lumpur, and 19-year-old Zaki Zahari, 19, a student.
The four are charged with murdering Hamzah Ab Majid in the Ulu Kanchong oil palm plantation at Pedas, Rembau, between 9.30pm and midnight on October 18, 2011.
The charge carries the mandatory death upon conviction.
High Court senior assistant registrar Siti Khairiah Abd Razak set August 30 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin prosecuted, while lawyer Mohd Jufri Abd Mois represented Zaki. The other accused were unrepresented. — Bernama
