Popularly known as “Uncle Seekers” for his dabbling into the paranormal, Syed Abdullah has had several police reports made against him since word of his blog posts at uncleseekers.blogspot.com spread online.
A 26-year-old woman named Siti Nadhirah Mohd Zain was also detained together with Syed Abdullah.
Johor police earlier declined to comment on the arrest, but have since issued a statement confirming the arrests.
According to the statement, Syed Abdullah and Siti Nadirah are currently being held under Section 8(1)(d) of the Official Secrets Act 1972.
On Sunday, a group of 30 people lodged a report against Syed Abdullah in which they allege he had insulted the Johor Crown Prince with his remarks.
“Uncle Seekers” first gained prominence for his consultations with former Raja Permaisuri Agong Siti Aishah Abdul Rahman, where he ostensibly helped her “overcome emotional stress”.
She had contracted him for help after he represented himself as being able to treat her affliction.
The former queen is currently suing him for breach of confidentiality.
