The LG Smart TV with Google TV G2 Series sports improved Google services, a redesigned user interface that’s easier to use, and LG’s new L9 dual-core processor – a chipset that supports more powerful graphics processing, smoother web browsing and enables faster search across the Web and live TV.

The LG G2 series will be the first Google TV series available within the US market to ship with a dual-core processor.

“LG is excited to work with Google to bring Google services to TVs, making it easier for consumers to access a growing amount of content on the big screen,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “This all-new TV series reflects our work as a company to deliver the latest technologies to consumers so that they have an immersive and interactive home entertainment experience.”

The G2 is capable of displaying 3D content and also comes with a Wii-like 5-mode G2 Magic Remote which responds to gesture-based commands and features a full QWERTY keyboard on the reverse.

Users can control the TV with simplified voice commands too. Apple’s rumoured TV is reported to feature advanced voice recognition, similar to those found on its iPhone 4S smartphone.

This week Chinese electronics manufacturer Lenovo debuted the 55” K91 Smart TV that runs Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system while market leader Samsung unveiled the world’s first 55” OLED Smart TV, the ES9500, late last week.

LG’s G2 Series TVs will be on show at 82 Mercer Street in Manhattan, New York at a special Internet Week New York event from May 14-17.
