12 ISA detainees released today
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 — Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today announced the immediate release of 12 individuals detained under the Internal Security Act.
The 12 comprised eight involved in human smuggling syndicates while the remaining four were involved in terrorism.
Seven are Malaysians, three Indonesians and two Pakistanis.
He said today’s number did not include the three people who were released earlier at the start of the month of Ramadan.
The government was satisfied that all those released no longer posed a threat to national security, he told reporters after attending a security briefing at the Sungai Buloh prison here today. — Bernama
