4 held for throwing grenade into loan defaulter’s compound
IPOH, May 15 — Police have arrested four men, believed to be involved in an incident in which a hand grenade was thrown into the compound of a house in Taman Bemban Jaya, Batu Gajah, near here today.
State CID chief Datuk Dzuraidi Ibrahim said a group of men had resorted to such action to threaten another man into repaying his loan.
“In the incident at 11.30am, four men aged between 14 and 35 years came to the house to demand for the loan repayment but the victim declined, leading to a quarrel,” he told reporters here today.
Dzuraidi said one of the men later took out a hand grenade and threatened the victim before throwing the device under the victim’s car. It did not explode.
Police rushed to the house after receiving a call from the victim and four men were nabbed near the house while trying to flee.
He said upon inspection, police had found a ‘live’ hand grenade and sent it to the Chemistry Department for further investigation.
The four men are being held at the Batu Gajah police headquarters and the case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1958. — Bernama
