500 say final farewell to Claudia

SEREMBAN, Feb 11 – About 500 people paid their last respects to Al-Jazeera news portal editor Claudia Theophilus at Visitation Church in Jalan Yam Tuan, here, today.

In a brief speech at the ceremony, Dora Theophilus, 36, said her sister Claudia was a responsible person and took good care of the family’s welfare.

“She was the pillar and hope for the family and was concerned for the health of our parents.

“As a journalist, she was very hardworking and focused on community issues. She left a great legacy to anyone who knew her,” she said.

After the cremony at Visitation Church, Claudia’s body was then brought to the crematorium in Jalan Tun Dr Ismail for cremation.

Claudia, 42, who worked with Al-Jazeera based in Doha, Qatar, died in a shooting accident while on holiday with two friends in the mountains of Baakleen, Lebanon.

She had also served The Sun newspaper and Malaysiakini news portal. – Bernama
