KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — North-bound traffic from Bidor to Tapah on the North-South Expressway had to endure a five-hour-long traffic jam this morning following an accident involving two heavy vehicles.
A Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) spokesman said the accident at Km334 involved a vegetable-laden trailer and a lorry.
The accident at 4.30am caused the trailer to skid across the road, he said.
He said the work to remove the trailer was completed at 8.30am and it took another hour for the traffic to clear up because of the sheer volume of cars on the road due to the Aidilfitri “balik kampung” rush.
“Traffic is also moving slowly towards Nilai and Seremban. The situation on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway at the Bentong Barat intersection is under control,” he said.
More information on the traffic condition can be obtained from the MHA at 1800-88-7752.
PLUS Ekspressways Bhd expects up to 1.4 million cars a day on major roads yesterday and today compare to only about 1.1 million on normal days. — Bernama
