Actor Ismail Hutson dies at 72

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 — Veteran actor Datuk Ismail Omar, popularly known as Ismail Hutson, died early today due to heart complications. He was 72.

Ismail, who was also Malaysian Zoological Society president, died at 1.05am at the Sime Darby Medical Centre in Subang Jaya.

He was buried at the Kota Damansara cemetery here this afternoon.

His second wife, Hafidzah Khasbullah, said Ismail was admitted to the hospital’s Critical Care Unit on Tuesday after suffering prolonged high fever.

“It is fated that he leave us in early Ramadan. Hari Raya celebrations this year will definitely be different without him,” she said when met today.

Ismail is also survived by first wife, Zaiton Osman, and seven children.

The Veteran Artistes Welfare Association president was involved in the film industry since the 1970s.

He appeared in several movies including “Dayang Suhana” (1978), “Tujuh Biang Keladi” (1984), “Hantu Siang” (1986), “Cinta Kita” (1995), “Layar Lara” (1997), “Mr Cinderella 2” (2003) and several television dramas. — Bernama
