KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — The red shirts worn by delegates to the 66th Umno general assembly reflects that they are battle-ready to face the 13th general election with zeal and enthusiasm, said Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
“We are clad in red shirts today... it is a sign that we are ready for battle to champion the welfare of the people.
“We will also look back to the success of the government for the past three years under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Razak such as the national transformation programme with an array of 1 Malaysia products.
“This includes other new ideas such as 1 Malaysia clinics and the 1 Malaysia people’s housing in line with the 1 Malaysia concept: people first, performance now,” he told Bernama at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.
Ahmad said the party’s leadership wanted to listen to the views of the delegates for the good of the party.
“We want to know what we can change and improve, we cannot say that we are perfect, so we are willing to correct our shortcomings,” he said.
Ahmad said Umno would continue to be relevant and accepted by the people for the leadership had always given priority to the welfare of the people.
“As long as we take care of the people, as long as the people support us, and as long as the welfare of the people comes first, the government will continue to be accepted by the people,” he said. — Bernama
