Ahmad Zahid: Parties should remain rational if they lose
HUTAN MELINTANG, Feb 12 – Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Pakatan Rakyat should be rational and not get too emotional if it loses in the upcoming 13th general election. He said Barisan Nasional (BN) or the opposition should accept the reality if either of them loses in the elections as the decision would be made by the people (voters).
“If BN wins the 13th general election, the opposition needs to support the decision and if the opposition wins, we (BN) will support that. Don’t create trouble... (as) our country is peaceful,” he said after attending the Bagan Datoh MCA division Chinese New Year celebration, here, today.
Ahmad Zahid was asked by reporters to comment on the fear that the opposition would create trouble if it loses in the upcoming elections.
Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his latest posting titled “Janji Anwar” (Anwar’s Promise) on his blog warned that opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement on organising a la Arab Spring demonstrations if the opposition loses in the elections should be taken
seriously due to his obsession with becoming prime minister.
“I don’t believe they (opposition) will resort to doing an ‘Arab Spring’ in this country. I think they are rational leaders,” said Ahmad Zahid, who is also Defence Minister.
“The police are responsible to take action if trouble breaks out after the upcoming general election,” he added. – Bernama
