Be grateful for July 1 salary rise, Cuepacs tells Malaysia’s civil servants

Civil servants should be grateful for the salary rise of one annual increment to be enjoyed on July 1, says the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs).

Although the increment was deemed small by certain quarters, it would provide great benefit to the civil servants in the long run, said Cuepacs deputy president Azih Muda at the opening of the 30th annual general meeting of Koperasi KOSPETA Malaysia Berhad in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

The Public Service Department (PSD) had earlier announced that the implementation of the exercise followed the government's decisions concerning career advancement and improvement on the salary structure of the civil servants, which would be resolved before Dec 31.

About bonus, Azih said Cuepacs believed that the government would give better incentives to the civil servants this year as compared to the one and a half year bonus given last year.- Bernama, June 24, 2013.
